Digital Citizenship Brainstorming & Classroom French PostersToday we finished our classroom French posters, got started on our ecosystem lab write ups, learned 3 ways to determine terminating and repeating decimals and started our lessons on digital citizenship. We covered 9 ways to be a good digital citizen. Kids couldn't believe believe how everything they do online in permanent. It is terminating cause 2 is the denominator and 2 doesn’t have to be prime factorized

If you break the denominator of a fraction into its prime factors, and they are all either 2 or 5, then the decimal will be terminating. If there are other numbers like 3 or 7, then the decimal will be repeating.

a) First you break down the denominator of the fraction into it's prime factors using the prime factorization method. If the prime factors are 2 or 5, than the number is terminating or non repeating, because 2x5=10 and multiples of 10 add up to 100 and 1000.

If you prime factorize the denominator and the prime factors only consist of fives and twos, then the decimal is a terminating decimal. If not, then it is a repeating decimal.

9/10 is a terminating fraction. I know this because the prime factors of 10 are 2 and 5. 2x5=10 and all groups of 10 add up to 100 and 1000.

If you prime factorize a denominator and if the prime factors are either 2 or/and 5 it means that its a terminated decimal and if not it means its an repeating decimal.

if you do the prime factorization and all the numbers are either 2 or 5 or both you have there a terminating fraction. if there's any number other than 2 or 5 then rip. you've got a repeating decimal

To use the prime factorization method to check if it is a repeating decimal you first take the denominator from the fraction and break it down until it is all prime numbers and if the numbers consist of 2's and 5's it is a terminating decimal. If it doesn't it is a repeating decimal.

First you have to break down the denominator into its prime factorization. If the prime numbers that make up the denominator are ONLY twos and fives, then you will know if it's a terminating or a repeating decimal

1. You can determine if a fraction is terminal or repeating decimal by prime factorizing the denominator and if the factors ONLY consist of 2 and 5s, it means that it is a terminating decimal. If the prime numbers consist of 3 or 7 (for example) it would not be a terminating decimal, it would be called a repeating decimal

We break down a number into its prime numbers-the numbers that cannot be divided anymore. When that is achieved, we list down the prime factors. The number is a terminating decimal if all the factors are either 2 or 5, since all decimals are "divisible" by ten, as they are broken into tens, and 2 and 5 multiplied together make 10.

How it works is simple. First you prime factorize the denominator, say 32. It's prime factorization is 2x2x2x2x2. The rule to find a terminating decimal is looking for either 2s and/or 5s. As you can see, 32 is made up of 2x2x2x2x2 so it will be a terminating decimal. This only works with 2 and 5 though because two and five are the only multiples of 10 (either than 1). If the prime factorization had been 2x3x5x7 it would not have worked because three and seven will create what is called a repeating decimal.
