NEVER GIVE UP!
Many more people completed their work today after the email I sent to your parents and the little little pep talk we had in the morning meeting yesterday. Is very important that you complete all of your school work on time. Completing your work, receiving feedback and revising to improve is the best way to learn. I know it is difficult in our situation, but we must persevere  in the face of adversity. Make yourself a schedule and stick to it. We are all counting on each other during this difficult time! I know I am getting on your case a lot, but that is because I care about you and your education. Let's all have a strong finish to grade 7!
1) MORNING CHEK IN & Lesson @10am
  • Cross Curricular Lesson:
Learning Intentions:
  1. I can explain the rules for multiplying integers
  2. I can give effective feedback to my word work group
  3. I can think about composition techniques in creative ways

2)WORD WORK:
  • Make revisions to your sentences based on the feed back you have received
  • Study for your test tomorrow
3)Math:
  • Test tomorrow on multiplying integers
  • Complete ASSIGNMENT # 6: Interactions Text p277 #1-11 p279 #1-10 (click)
  • Mark it and UPLOAD IT TO FRESH GRADE
4) ART:
  • Continue uploading photographs
  • Read and apply feedback
  • Give feedback to classmates
  • Continue working on your project.
5.) POST  A RESPONSE:
  • We have found ourselves in a challenging situation, but we must persevere in many aspects of our lives, including school
  • per·se·ver·ance - persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success
  • Watch the video below with clips from Finding Nemo
Learning Intention: I can write a paragraph explain situations of perseverance

Success Criteria:
  • Explain what perseverance is
  • Explain how perseverance was shown in the three clips

Perseverance is when you continue doing something no matter how hard it is to achieve your goal.

In clip one Nemo showed perseverance when he felt like giving up but continued on swimming with the support of dory's words. I think need was trying to escape through the filter in clip 2 after many failed attempts, but he persevered and continued trying. In clip 3 Nemo showed perseverance by not giving up to save Dory and the other fish. He continued on cheering them on to keep swimming until they successfully broke free.

There was this time I was at a camp, and our tent was leaking in the middle of the night. A few members and I had to constantly patch up the leaking holes which was very tiring. We wouldn't stop until we had gotten help even though we ended up completely wet. This was one of the times I showed perseverance because I wouldn't give up even though it was a difficult task.

Currently, I am not facing any problems with online school but if I were I would ask for help and keep going or endure it. For example if I was stuck on art, I would ask my teacher and classmates for help and continue on.

Perseverance is kind of like determination. You get your job done no matter what it takes.

In clip one, dory told nimo to not give up and told him to to keep swimming. That shows there perseverance to keep moving until nimo found his son. In clip two, little nimo was stuck in a glass cage at an aquarium. Little nimo showed perseverance despite he was stuck in a cage. Little nimo tried to escape and once his fellow fish saw, they immediately helped little nimo and told him to keep going. In the third clip, there were dozens of fish stuck in a net. Little nimo was showed perseverance and determination to help free dory and those other fish. He thought of a plan and nothing would stop his determination.

Currently doing online school was not so good at all in the beginning. I was home 24/7 so my brain went "hey, your home. How about we watch some Youtube, then we can watch a movie on disney plus and play some games. Then start our work at 3pm!" But that didn't happen but I felt tempted too. But my perseverance kept me on track and I've got all my work done.

To me, perseverance is when you can continue to push yourself to complete your goal. For example, if you're running in a race and you get really tired, you may want to stop running. You have to tell yourself that you will not quit because you have already come so far. That's basically perseverance in a nutshell (or at least I think it is).

In the video, the first clip shows how Dory is telling Nemo's dad, Marlin to "just keep swimming" because he feels like giving up and she's telling him to just keep going but in fish-terms. In the second clip, Nemo is trying to jam the filter even though he knows how dangerous it may be. If I remember correctly, he tries and tries to jam it but it's too hard so, he keeps trying. In the last clip, Dory and some other fish get caught in a fish net so, Nemo devises a plan to swim down. Marlin is hesitant to let him go in the fish net at first, but develops a trust in Nemo. Nemo ends up saving all the fish. Even though the fishermen almost got all the fish, the still kept swimming and they escaped.

During online school, some of the tough parts is when it's getting to the end of the day and I still have lots of work to do. I become really stressed out and my mom makes me step away from the computer. Another thing that happens is sometimes I don't understand something and my parents can't help me, sometimes I don't get answers from a teacher and I can't do anything about it.

Other than that, Online School is going pretty well.

Personal Connection-I really REALLY wanted to have the last show in our musical one year and my off cast lead was not very nice to me. I was younger than her. She would always say how she was getting the last show and it was very upsetting to me. She would always budge in front of me to get to sing stuff for the director because we had to switch. I was pretty annoyed by her. Anyways, I kept doing the musical as best as possible and I ended up getting the last show anyways :). That was my favourite show ever.

preservence means to keep on trying, to reach your goal even if it is hard, but trying to cling on to the hope you have of acheiving success.

In the Nemo clips, there were ways of preservence. In the first clip, Mrlin was down and hopeless because he thought it was ended, he couldn't find nemo eveer again. But Dory, she had preservence and she told Marlin thayt he needs to keep swimming, to not give up on his son. In the second clip, nemo is trying to clog the filter, though it is very hard to. The other fish thinks he is going to die, but Nemo had preservance and he threw the rock in, succesfully. In the last film, all hopewas lost to Marlin, as the fish net caught Dory, but Nemo had preserverience, as he told everybody to swim down. Marlin was too afraid to, but got some preserverience because he need to try to finish the job.Because of this, the fish broke the net, and all the fish were free, due to preserverience.

A small time i had a bit of preservereience, was when I totally forgot about my theory homework :( and I only had one a few hours to finish it. The ther=ory homework is very har, so I thought I might not make it. In the end, I tryed and did finish it in the nick of time. :) At school, There are some problems, for instance work. I have lots of other work, and I really don't have much time to finish it all. I can work hard, to finish it a lot, and maybe have some free time in the end, too. Online school is ery fun, but people are getting more and more apart, without meeting together in a long time face to face.

Perseverance means to not give up and keep trying until you reach your goal.

In the first clip Marlin was hopeless that he will never find his son again but dory told marlin to “keep swimming” and in the 2nd clip the fish tried to jam the filter and after many failed attempts they finally did it. And I’m the 3rd clip the fish where caught and it seemed like they would be food but Nemo dory and marlin told the fish to keep swimming down.

A time when I had some perseverance was during a hockey Tournament and it was the semi finals and there was like 4 seconds left and the puck was in our zone and I somehow scored and I looked at the clock and it was 0.5 seconds left.

Perseverance is like doing something or getting your job done no matter how hard it is or how much time it takes.

In the first clip, Dory told Marlin not to give up. She told him to keep swimming. Marlin wanted to give up but Dory told Marlin to just keep going. in clip two Nemo tried to escape from the dentist's fish tank but failed. But he kept trying and never gave up. In clip three, there were lots of fish stuck in a net. Nemo showed perseverance to help save the fish by telling the fish to swim downwards. At the end all the fish were saved.

Currently, online school is going pretty well. But a few weeks ago when online school started, things weren't going that well. i always forgot to do some work or miss something. But I kept trying to finish the work. Also, i had some difficulty focusing on the work because I'm at home. However, I'm doing better now because I never gave up doing work.

Perseverance is never giving up, never stopping to reach your goal no matter how many barriers you bump into.
Marlin had shown perseverance to swim down through dory's encouragement, he swam down to the bottom. For the second clip Nemo wanted to get out of the tank but most likely couldn't every time, and through this he kept persevering to finally jam the filter.
For the last clip the perseverance of the fish around dory, they were trapped and just gave up, but through Nemo's convincing they kept swimming down and down until the net broke. They even kept swimming when a few of them were slowly dying at top. This perseverance saved their lives and many others.

Some difficulty's are really ignoring distraction as school and home is a different place, school is a place designed for learning and someone's home isn't, but in general everything else is fine.

Perseverance is basically just when you keep going no matter how hard the situation is, not
stopping, not giving up.

You just have to reach your achievements or goals no matter what hardships life gives to you. Your goal is the most important over anything in that moment.

For the first clip, Marlin is giving up and Dory wants to “just keep swimming” not quitting on achieving their goal to find Nemo.

For the second clip. Nemo needs to stop the filter for some reason and he goes and for the first action of perseverance he keeps going even though he could get hurt and for he second action of perseverance his friends are trying to help him and they all work together.

In the third clip it has the most dire consequences they needed to persevere to literally save their life
so marlin and Nemo help them swim down to save them from the fisherman and they all pushed through even if it was painful or gruelling they kept going to be able to achieve their goal

Perseverance

What is perseverance?
per·se·ver·ance
/ˌpərsəˈvirəns/
noun: perseverance
persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success.

Perseverance is determination. It means to not give up and to keep trying no matter how hard it is. It is when you can continue to push yourself to keep going so even if you are really tired, you can continue to finish even if it’s really hard.

How was perseverance shown in the clips?
Clip #1: Marlin and Dory lose the goggles that had the address to find Nemo. Marlin is feeling down because he now thinks that he will not find Nemo. It shows perseverance because Dory encourages Marlin with her words “Just keep swimming, just keep swimming.”
Clip #2: Nemo is trying to make the filter stop working because they want to get out (You’ll understand if you watch the movie.). It shows perseverance because the first time that Nemo tried he almost got sucked by the filter but he was willing to try again and it worked.
Clip #3: The fish are getting caught in the fish net. Dory gets caught in the net and it makes Marlin feel hopeless to not be able to save a friend. It shows perseverance because Nemo has an idea for the fish to swim down and all the fish try hard and they end up freeing themselves.

My personal connection of showing perseverance was when I went to Kelowna with my best friend. We were at this climbing thing called Myra Canyon. There were obstacle courses which went over a canyon. The taller people could just hold onto the top rope but since we aren’t tall we had to do the obstacle without holding onto the top rope so it was more difficult for us. I slipped on an obstacle but quickly caught myself and stepped on the platform. I didn’t want to do it again but there wasn’t any other choice because the obstacle course was all connected by a rope and I couldn’t go back. So I just tried the obstacle. I was very afraid because we were over a canyon and I was scared I was going to fall. But I persisted and I did it.

Something that I am having difficulties with online school right now is distractions because every time there’s a notification on my phone or I see my brother playing I want to do that too. I know that if I just get my work done first then I will be able to play after. Another thing that I am having difficulties with is that some things are harder so if my parents can’t help me and the teacher doesn’t respond then I have to figure it out on my own.

I think that perseverance means to keep working as hard as you can to achieve your goal, or to get something done!

Perseverance was shown is these clips by:
in every one of these clips they didn't stop trying in other words they didn't give up! or even when they were in the lowest of lows or in a tough situation they were trying to stay positive. ex. Just keep swimming, Just keep swimming! that says a lot. dory was lost and she didn't know where to go. but she kept her spirits up and she got through it! that is what perseverance is!

A personal connection on when you showed perseverance.
How online school is going for you, a couple problems you are having.

Perseverance is kinda like when you keep going no matter how hard the situation is, without giving up.

You just have to keep trying until you achieve your goals. Your goal is the most important.

First clip: Marlin is giving up and Dory wants to just keep on swimming and not give up in finding Nemo.

Second clip: Nemo needs to stop the filter for some reason and he goes. For the first action of perseverance he keeps going even though he could get hurt. He didn't give up on finding Nemo. For the second action of perseverance his friends are trying to help him and they all work together.

Third clip: has the most gruesome consequences. Dory and his friends needed to persevere to save their life.
So, Marlin and Nemo decided to help them swim down. And to save them from the fisherman. They all did their best, and not give up even if it was painful. They kept going without hesitating.

Perseverance is continuously doing something, no matter what obstacles or challenges you may encounter. Perseverance is determination. You persevere in order to achieve a goal. No matter how hard it is, how tired you are, or how many challenges come your way. With perseverance, we can achieve anything we set our minds to.

In clip 1, Marlin is upset because Dory lost the masks which contained Nemo’s address. Marlin is pessimistic and down and doesn’t believe that they will ever find Nemo. Dory displays perseverance in brightening up the mood by singing “Just keep swimming, just keep swimming.” and encouraging Marlin. With Dory’s supportive singing, Marlin kept on swimming.

In clip 2, Nemo tries to jam the filter so that the fish could escape. Although he almost got sucked in by the filter the first time, he tried again, showing perseverance. The second time, he succeeded. This is an example of a situation where, with perseverance, you get what you set your mind to and achieve it. :)

In clip 3, fish, including Dory, have been caught in a net. Marling is desperate and hopeless, since he doesn’t believe he is able to save Dory. Nemo shows perseverance and has an amazing idea. Although Marlin is worried about Nemo’s safety, they end up carrying out the plan. The fish and Dory persistently swim down, hoping to save themselves. In the end, they succeed and all the fish get freed.

A time that I showed perseverance was in skating. Before we all had to quarantine and stay in our homes, I was struggling with this jump that would boost up my level. I had been learning it for 2 years and I still wasn’t able to land it consistently. I almost quit skating at one point. But I was not going to let this jump block my way and I kept on going. In March, I landed it cleanly and consistently.

I am having trouble with distractions and due dates. I am easily distracted with my outside life, since I am at home. I can improve this by using the 6 hours from 9-3 just to do work. Once I am finished, then I will be able to do other things. This will help me make sure I complete my work on time.

Perseverance. What is it? Its to continue pushing through to your goal despite any roadblocks that come your way. To be determined and to try your best. Perseverance was shown in all three clips. The first clip, Dory drops the mask, their only clue to Nemo. Even though that happened, Dory doesn't let that bother them, dragging Marlin along with her if thats what it takes to find Nemo. She perseveres.

In the second clip, Nemo risked his life trying to help jam the filter even as he knew that he could die because of it. If he failed, he would've tried again, and again. As the fish said, "That took guts, kid."

In the last clip, hundreds of fish, inlcuding were going to be captured, so Nemo had to think of a strategy to save them. Again, he risked his life, telling all the fish to swim down while going into the net himself. Luckily, his plan worked, freeing all the fish. Nemo persevered.

I showed perseverance the time I had my last music theory exam. The exam gave you three hours to complete the test, and I had studied quite a lot. In the end, I could only remember some things, not everything. Even so, I pushed through, knowing that everything would be over once I passed the exam.

At times like now, we have to show perseverance, as online school can be difficult. I've been struggling to keep things straight as I'm not sure what things I have completed or what I have not. I could probably fix this by keeping a mental checklist and once having completed an assignment I tick a box off. I've also been struggling with distractions. Staying at home will make me want to lie down in bed while I'm still working on schoolwork. I could possibly fix this by making a goal to finish an assignment in (for example) an hour, knowing that I can sleep later.
