Happy Halloween!!

What a fantastic Halloween Potluck feast we had. Thank you all for contributing. Have a safe and bountiful Halloween!

The average fun size Halloween candy has about 80-100 calories in it.

If you ate all this candy (see left), about how many km must be run to burn off the calories consumed?

We had our final ecosystem observation today and learned how to put the data we collected into a spreadsheet to create a graph. This makes it easy to compare different data sets.

1. Reminders:

Halloween potluck party tomorrow so you DO NOT NEED TO BRING A LUNCH.
Bring a plate or bowl and a food to mouth delivery device such as a fork or chopsticks.

2. Fresh Grade:

Show your parents your updated portfolio and explain the process of the summary page on the math unit test that shows the learning intentions and your progress

3. Post a Response:

Use all of the following word work words in a single interesting, humorous and APPROPRIATE Halloween sentence. (you may change verb tense and plurals)

I heard Eric Walters was great. I am sorry I missed it.

Check out some of his older books as well. Camp X, set in WW II, is a great read about two boys who discover a secret Canadian military base for training spies.

I could not have hoped for a more perfect day to spend exploring and documenting ecosystems in Vancouver, and what great company. You all demonstrated to the public how Laurier students SOAR with respect.

1. Reminders:

Upload all the evidence (pictures you took) to your One Drive account. Make a new folder called Ecosystems Field Trip. You will be working on your photo essay this week in class

Review the Photo Essay Assignment and criteria posted under assignments on the website

2. Post a Response:

Something interesting you documented, noticed or learned on the field trip
Two examples of good public transit edict
Name the bird in the above photo

Today was a great day of learning. I found new ways to use Fresh Grade to help build digital portfolios and Mr. Hong introduced me to using a blog as an extension of the classroom. I am super excited about this and look forward to learning more about how blogging can be used to engage students beyond the classroom.

1. Math: We will be starting a fractions and decimals unit on Monday so get ready to turn your brain on 2/2 = 1.0 = %100
