1.) UNDERGROUND RAILROAD MAP:
  • Try your best to finish the map or at least the colouring.
  • Making the map look old:
  1. Soak in black tea and then dry it
  2. Wrinkle it up and smudge some areas
  3. Wet some areas and then dry
  4. Burn some of the edges or some holes in it (You must have parent supervision and permission for this)

IMPORTNAT: When making the map look old,  make sure the important areas of the map are  still readable.

**For the arrows showing the routes you do not need to use all the arrows. You can use any of the maps or a combination of arrows from different maps. The goal is to show some of the main routes used to escape.

  • We will join together and tell the story of the underground railroad in sections.
  • The first person to post will tell the first part of the story.
  • As new people show reply to their post and add the next part to a story. Repeat this until the story is complete.
  • If a full story has been completed. Start a new one.

After a morning of PE students used the plot outline of the story of the underground railroad to write the story in full paragraphs. Students will build a storyboard to use to orally share their understanding of the history of the underground railroad.  In the afternoon students carried on with operations with integers and continued filling in their underground railroad mapping assignment.

  • Write a paragraph that incorporates at least 8 of the word work words below. Make sure the meaning of the words is clear in the paragraph. CAPITALIZE all the letters of each word work word. 
  • Be creative!
  • Respond to another studentS post  and give them some feedback or encouragement.

Cool Stuff!!!
TODAY WE FINISHED WATCHING INFORMATIONAL VIDEOS ON THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD AND STUDENTS PRACTICED MAKING NOTES IN THEIR OWN WORDS. AFTERWARDS WE HAD A CLASS DISCUSSION AND CAME TO AN AGREEMENT OF THE MAIN PLOT POINTS IN THE STORY OF THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD. FOR MATH STUDENTS LEARNED HOW TO SUBTRACT INTEGERS.
IMPORTNAT- SCIENCE: TEST MOVED TO THURSDAY!

1.) MATH: COMPLETE HALF OF THE BOOKLET!

2.) POST A RESPONSE:
  • Make sure Yesterdays post is complete. Answer another students questions and give feedback on the answers to yours.
