1)HOMEWORK: Complete all of your classwork and homework!

2.) POST A RESPONSE:
  • Being kind is something we all need to do more of.  Watch this 7 minute read aloud and SYNTHESIZE and EVALUATE it using your reading strategies to come up with the big idea.
  • Remember, synthesizing and evaluating is when you use all your reading strategies to come up with an understanding of the BIG IDEA (message the author wants you to take away).
  • Remember, everyone will have their own perspective on what the BIG IDEA will be. 
    LEARNING INTENTION: I can synthesize and evaluate my use of reading strategies to come up with the big idea of the story.
    SUCCESS CRITERIA:
    1.) Paragraph format (hook, body, and conclusion)
    2.) State what you think the BIG IDEA is.  
    3.) You must LIST 2 reading/comprehension strategies you used while you listened/read along with the story.
    4.) You must also EXPLAIN and give 2 CLEAR EXAMPLES of how you used these strategies and how they helped you come up with the big idea.  
    5.) Check for the givens/conventions (spelling, capitals, punctuation, grammar, and sentence structure).
    6.) Give one student descriptive feedback on the above criteria.  Do a self-assessment of your own paragraph using the criteria above.
    7.) Edit/revise your work.

2)MATH:

  • Grade 7- Unit 1 Evlauation on Monday
1)POST A RESPONSE
  • We all have a team. Think about who is on your learning support team and write them a thank you letter.
Learning Intention: I can write a thank you message to my learning support team

Success Criteria:
  1. Include the date but no address
  2. Address the person appropriately. At the start of the letter, address the person with a proper salutation, such as “Dear Mr. ... (First names only or mom dad, teacher etc.)
  3. Say thank you. ...
  4. Give at least 2-3 for specifics for each person. ...(what you are thankful for)
  5. Say thank you again. ...
  6. Sign off. ... (sincerely, yours truly etc.)
  7. Be positive but sincere. ...
  8. Proof read your letter and post it
  9. Read your letter to your parents! (MANDATORY!)

The Power Of Words!
Today we had earth bites where we learned about growing micro greens and how vitamins get into our bodies. In the afternoon we worked on of SPOOKY TREE ART and then had some skills testing and assessment for our soccer unit. Students were dismissed early for their goal setting conferences. It has been great to meet so many parents and to see your learning support teams.

Recently we have been talking about  the power fo words. Todays PAR is focusing on how we can use our words in different ways to create an effect. Think about how you are using word in your Alphabiography writing project and try to say things with words in meaningful and creative ways,
1) WORD WORK:
  • Sentences
  • Test Friday
2)WEBSITE:
  • Revise your par from yesterday based on your FEEDBACK from me.
3) FRESH GRADE:
  • Add your goal(s) to FG
4.) POST A RESPONSE:
  • Word choice is incredibly important in writing.  Your writing should be clear and concise with words that communicate exactly what you want to say.
  • Watch this video to complete your PAR for today.
  • Word Choice is using rich, colourful, and purposeful vocabulary that communicates what you are trying to say in a skillful way.  
  • LEARNING INTENTION: I can explain the importance of 'WORD CHOICE'.  
    SUCCESS CRITERIA:
    1.) Paragraph format (intro, body, and conclusion)
    2.) Include 2 reasons why you think 'WORD CHOICE' is important.  
    3.) You may pull on examples to support your reasons from the video!
    4.) Check for the givens (spelling, capitals, punctuation, grammar, and sentence structure).

  • In  a paragraph form write about the code of conduct
SUCCESS CRITERIA:
  1. Explain what SOAR stands for
  2. Give 2 examples for behaviours or actions that represent each letter
  3. Explain what SOAR tickets are
  4. SOAR tickets are used to reward and praise positive behaviours. Do you think having sore tickets is effective? Think school wide.
  5. Why do you think SOAR was created?
  6. In your opinion is having a code of conduct important?
  7. What could make it better?
