Alphabiography Time!

Today we had our second gymnastics lesson and already it is evident students are becoming more comfortable and confident using the various equipment. We were also introduced to our first writing project called an Alphabiography! The project consists of 26 different pieces of personal writing. Throughout the project students will have many writing lessons or writing tips that will focus on what good writers do. Students will then be expected to start applying what they are learning to their written work. Throughout the project students will be having 1 on 1 writing conferences with a teacher, where they will get specific feedback on what they are doing well and what they need to do to improve. They will also be practicing assess their own work against the criteria set by the government for a grade 7 student. Click here to see the government performance standards along with many writing samples. I have also created a more student friendly version (click) of the Perforce Standards to help students in self assessing their own work. Lets get writing!

1) Homework and Reminders:

Math Focus: Page 13 and 14 (From yesterday)
At least 1 writing idea for each letter of the alphabet (due tomorrow)
Home Reading (30 min)
PLANT ID project is DUE FRIDAY. You will have 1 hr both tomorrow and Friday to work on it!

2) Post A Response:

Log on to your Microsoft 365 account and go to the Division 1 Class Notebook and set up a new page called Alphabiograhy under Language Arts. Go to the collaborative space and cut and paste the Alphabiography brainstorming page into your new notebook page.
Add your 26 writing ideas to your notebook.
Show your online notebook to your parents
Post here when you have complete this. If are having trouble or are not successful in getting into your note book from home, post the trouble you are having or any questions have here and we will try to help you.

Go to online 365 and click shared with me. There you will find Laurier Div.1...... Click on that and you will get in to one note. Then set up a new page called Alphabiograhy under your name Language Arts. Go to the collaborative space and cut and paste the Alphabiography brainstorming page into your new notebook page.

@Sarah. Go to office 365 and use you student number followed by @vsb.bc.ca You will get a message that says taking you to your organization sign in page. From here you use your student number only and then your password. The same way you would login at school.

Can someone help me? On science , one of the requirements said "A picture of the plant, (the whole plant)" and i dont know what he means by "the whole plant". Is it the entire tree/bush? Or is it just the leaf?

I saw you on one note! Right click the outer box on the alphabiography chart. Ctrl+c and Ctrl+v to cut and paste to your page

Mr.Fisher I have a problem, every time I would login and go to one note it would freeze my screen. I’ll keep trying with other devices but if it still doesn’t work do I post my writing ideas on the website like Jorge’s?

Okay, the class was split into two different groups.
The first group went outside with Pablo to harvest plants and roots.
The second group stayed inside to learn about ways to preserve food and made kale chips.

That's about it I guess.

There is a slight problem with my Plant Identification Project...
It seems that my group has lost 1 of our samples, so now we only have 11. We currently have Tansy, Ponderosa Pine, Mountain Ash, Thimbleberry, Raspberry, Swordfern, Maple, Ivy (need some help for indigenous uses on that one) Cedar, Willow, and Oak.

Does anyone have any advice on what to do? We only have 11 pressed and dried plant samples 😅
