Analyzing and synthesizing are both important parts in inquiry. Analyzing and synthesizing can help you improve your inquiry. But what does Analyzing and synthesizing mean. I am going to give you an example of a video game.
Analyzing the video game:
-My friend told me that it was fun and really good
-Online reviews say that its boring and too repetitive
-I didn't like the characters but the game was fun
Synthesizing the video game
I can come understanding that i am very alike to my friend and that i have a different opinion about the game.

Mr. Fisher

This is a good start and the synthesizing part makes sense. My version of analysis is looking carefully at something, like your notes, or the elements of a video game and then deciding which information is most important. Synthesizing is putting it all together to make an opinion or a learning statement.

Both analyzing and synthesizing are important parts of the inquiry process when you analyze something you are taking important information from your friend or the internet. When you synthesize you take all of the information that you got and put it together.
For example if I want to buy a good video game then I’ll search on the internet which games has the highest rates and then I’ll take all of the games and make an opinion of what game I want to buy

Mr Fisher for math i wanted to do the first 12 but they're a few prime numbers do i have to substitute the prime numbers with composite.

Mr. Fisher

Any 12 is fine.

PS. I posted the word work!

Analyze means to take information and synthesis means to take all the information that you have and put it together.
Example
There's a new movie made by Wonabelen Studios. Wikipedia says that it is a great movie while your friend says it's absolute garbage. Now you can use background knowledge and the knowledge that you have and take it together to make an opinion for yourself
I can come to understand that Wikipedia isn't a reliable source. My friend says it garbage but Wonabelen Studios have released some great movies therefore I will see but, I wont go into the theatre thinking it's absolute garbage. There might be some highpoints.

Both analyzing and synthesizing are important parts of the inquiry process. When you analyze something you research or find out what things you need to make your opinion and or answer for the question. When you synthesize you take the information you have from your analyzing to make a your conclusion. It may start like; I am coming to understand... and so on. The following example shows the analyzing and synthesizing process.

Analyzing:
- an article says the movie was bad
-a friend of mine says it was pretty good
-I like the actor who stars in it, but I feel like the movie could've been better.

Synthesizing:
From what I found out from sources and from my background I have come to understand that the movie is not for everyone. In my opinion I liked the actor who stars in it, but I didn't like the plot. The genre wasn't my thing and who's to say the genre was bad; I just didn't like it.

I tried to explain it. :)

Both analyzing and synthesizing are important parts of the inquiry process. When you analyze something you found different sources and opinions to come up with your own opinions. When you synthesize you take information that you got from analyzing to conclude on your opinion.

Mountain wants to read the hunger games, but he doesn’t know if it’s a good book or not. According to Wikipedia the book was very well written and has lots of action. However, Joseph was also reading the book and said that it was not as action packed as he had expected from the reviews. In conclusion Wikipedia wasn’t entirely correct as some found the book not as good as Wikipedia describes it to be. My opinion is that the book is great and action packed but not for everyone.

Mr. Fisher
10/9/2018 06:42:28 pm

Nice, Mountain.

When I think of analyzing I think of looking carefully at something, like your notes, and deciding what is most important.

Analyzing and synthesizing are both very important things for inquiry. Analyzing mens to divide or separate, which you will do when your doing inquiry. For example you will analyze in your inquiry to find out what part of your inquiry question you should do first, then you will analyze your notes to make them neat and short. Synthesizing means to combined a number of things. For example you will use synthesizing in inquiry to combine your notes and make your presentation. Analyzing and Synthesizing are both important for inquiry.

Both analyzing and synthesizing are important parts of the inquiry process. When you analyze something you gather important information. When you synthesize you add the important information with your background knowledge. The following example shows the analyzing and synthesizing process.

According to Google reviews, The 7th Harry potter book was very good. However, my English teacher says its its a copy of the first few books and recommends lord of the rings instead. My conclusion is that the book isn't like what google has informed me. I could read the first few books or read something else.

Mr. Fisher
10/9/2018 07:39:51 pm

Excellent explanation, Vincent!

Joseph

Both analyzing and synthesizing are important parts of the inquiry process. When you analyze something you look at different sources, take some information you deem to be important, and decide which ones are most important to help you with your opinion. When you synthesize you are taking your notes and thinking about them to make your opinion.

For example: I want to read a book by John Grisham. How do I know if it is good or not? I go onto the Internet and start searching information about this novel. I see that it has mostly positive reviews, but some negative ones as well. I also know that John Grisham has written some fantastic novels which I have read, but on the other hand, the negative reviews seem pretty convincing.

So I decide to read it book, and it's quite interesting. My opinion on it is that it's a good book, but rather predictable. So I agree with the negative reviews on that. Still, I would recommend it to anyone.

Both analyzing and synthesizing are important parts of the inquiry process. When you analyze something you inquiry process. When you synthesize you look at the different things and different website . The following example shows the analyzing and synthesizing process.
My friend told me that the the book "THE OVEN" is good, but on google said's that we should not buy it, is not fun at all, so now you need to put these ideas together and make your own opinion of that book.

Both analyzing and synthesizing are important parts of the inquiry process. When you analyze something, for example your inquiry project, you take the key facts and look over them. When you synthesize something, you take all your information from sources and combine them using background knowledge and BOOM! You get your opinion and the process of getting your opinion is called synthesizing.
For example, I really like Rick Riordan books, and there is a new book from him in the library. I looked up some replies and analyzing the replies, and I found out that most peoplethink that this book was okay. As for my background knowledge, I am a Rick Riordian fan and I think his books are so captivating and are very full of energy. So, my opinion is to place a hold on the book and then read the book and find out that this book was actually very exciting.

Both analyzing and synthesizing are important parts of the inquiry process. When you analyze something you listen from different sources like your friends or the internet and find out which is the most important to help make up your opinion. When you synthesize you take your important thoughts and put them together and make a opinion.

For example if i want to buy this Fortnite skin then I'll look on the internet for thoughts on the skin and the majority of the reviews are good, but there are some negative ones. The negative ones are very meaningful and convince you to not buy it. But I take these positive and negative opinions and make and opinion. In my background knowledge I say that i don't even have a skin and the skin looks cool. So I decide to buy it and I would recommend it but there are some minor flaws. Overall in the opinion I made it is a good skin.

Both analyzing and synthesizing are important parts of the inquiry process. When you analyze something you are taking the important information. When you synthesize you take that important information that you gathered and make an opinion with it. The following example shows the analyzing and synthesizing process.

I wanted to read a book. I asked my teacher if he knew any good books. He told me that “Wonder” was a good one. I then went to my friends asking if they liked that book, but they said that they didn’t enjoy it that much. I decided to just try reading a little bit of it to see if I would like it.

Both analyzing and synthesizing are important parts of the inquiry process. When you analyze something you listen from different sources like your friends or the internet, and find out which is the most important to help make up your opinion. When you synthesize, you take your important thoughts and put them together to make an opinion.

For example; Let's say you're researching about private and public schools. A website may say that private school kids are more mature and well-mannered, compared to public school kids. This being because, well private school is more expensive and harder. But then you ask your friends who have been to a private school, and they claim that the private school they went to was much worse.

However, since it was only one friend, it could've just been that one school that was bad, you should ask at least 3 or more people on their experiences. So let's say that all three of them said they had a bad private school, I would think that private school isn't always necessarily better than public school.

synthesizing and analyzing is a very big part of the inquiry process. when your analyzing your getting all the important information whether its from books ,magazines ,or online. You use that information to add on from what you already know ,and extend your own knowledge about it. An example of synthesizing is maybe you want to buy the book "bob the builder". you are not sure it the book will be good or not so you look at the reviews. even though not all the reviews say that the book is great ,you can still put your opinion out there. so once you buy the book and actually read it ,then you can have your own opinion on the 'bob the builder" book.

Both analyzing and synthesizing are important parts of the inquiry process. When you analyze something you take it into undertanding. When you synthesize you put together what you understand in a statement to show your learning. The following example shows the analyzing and synthesizing process.
You saw an acrobatic act at the circus. You saw that people were amazed by how someone could have so much balance, agility, and flexibility, but the expression on the acrobat's face says otherwise. You noticed that they are not enjoying the performance as much as you, and everyone else there, is. The expression on his/her face is focused but nervous, so you can tell that they are not enjoying it. You take the info that you gathered and compare it to your background knowledge. Perhaps you know that doing what the acrobat is doing is difficult to do for most people. Then you develop your learning statement and you might say to the person next to you," Balancing on a rope while doing cartwheels is difficult."
This shows that you have carefully analyzed and synthsized the situation and used your new and old knowledge to open up your understanding of the subject. That's what inquiry is all about!

Both analyzing and synthesizing are important parts of the inquiry process. When you analyze something you look at the facts of different sources and write down what seems to be the most important. When you synthesize you take your very neat notes and form your opinion using what you know and what you just learned. The following example shows the analyzing and synthesizing process.

Here is an example

There was a famous Canadian author that is winning awards left and right. His name is Kenneth Oppel, author of the Silverwing series. His book came out recently and it was called Firewing. So many critics say that this book messed up the entire series. It just did not flow well with the book before it. However, my teacher recommended me this book because she thought it was passionate.

In my opinion, I believe that Kenneth Oppel is one of the best writers in the history of writing, but so many people said that it wasn't good including book professors and critics. I decided to read it and I LOVED it. The critics were right that the book didn't flow well, but it was so captivating.

I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone should give it a go.

Both analyzing and synthesizing are important parts of the inquiry process. When you analyze something, you break it into smaller parts to gain a better understanding of it. When you synthesize, you combine the information you already know to form a unique opinion.

The following example shows analyzing and synthesizing process.

Jessica wants to learn to jump on ice, of which she totally has no idea.

At the rink, she observes a competitive skater practicing jumps on ice beautifully, one after one.

From observation, she figures out that the strength of leg muscles has to work and the leg must push off ice. This is when Jessica is analyzing what she sees.

By now,Jessica knows that she needs to use strength of the leg muscles to push off ice. Luckily, her friend is a skilled figure skater, who tells her that she can improve the leg muscles strength by doing jumping exercises off ice such as skipping ropes. Jessica also did research on google about tips of learning to jump on ice.She puts all information together, makes connections (i.e., one tip from google search is quite similar to her friend’s advice, she sees a skater do off-ice exercises that her friend mentions), and works out a learning plan for herself. She plans to spend about half an hour on weekdays having dry-land exercises such as jumping ropes; and on weekends, she would go on ice to practice jumping for an hour. Although she may not be aware of it, when making a plan, Jessica has actually experienced a synthesizing process involving all prior information and her personal perspectives.

Both analyzing and synthesizing are important parts of the inquiry process. When you analyze something you know and understand to come up with your own opinion or conclusion your synthesizing. The following example shows the analyzing and synthesizing process.
(what Im going to write is not true)

Mary is a bad sleeper. she knows about this. she wants to become a better sleeper but doesn't know how. what she knows is she is cold at night and her fiend sleeps bad too. she goes to the three top rated websites and finds this
1. before you go to sleep eat soup and sleep with more pillows
2. get better blankets
3.hen you feel cold don't use a blanket for five mins then us a blanket again
her friend uses number three and says the result is good but doesn't work for to long. number 1 doesn't work well because you eat soup before you go to sleep and already have 50 pillows.
but everybody seems to like number 2 so you steal your parents' blankets and sleep better.

Both analyzing and synthesizing are important parts of the inquiry process. When you analyze something you understand and you gather information. When you synthesize you are putting things in your head. The following example shows the analyzing and synthesizing process.
For example our inquiry, we had to think about our import notes and our not important notes .
