Imagine jumping In the air, about to dunk a basketball. Even though the hoop is about 6ft, I feel a rush of adrenaline mixed with excitement. This is gonna be my first attempt after getting over my fear of dunking. Whoosh. It goes in. Relief washes over me. Remembering how I used to be scared of dunking, I thought about how proud of myself I felt for over coming it.
When I first wanted to learn how to dunk, I practiced jumping and holding onto the rim. In the beginning i felt nervous because I wasn’t sure wether I could grab the rim, or if I’d fall on my head. I thought I wouldn’t be able to grab it, but when I did, excitement bubbled up inside me. Then I moved onto dribbling with the ball then jumping into a dunk. After mastering that I felt proud of myself because practicing made my fear go away.

Hi @Sonia, to my opinion, maybe you could tell us what happened at your first time dunking and how you felt.

That's the only thing I wanted from you.
Thank You :)

The Needle [N]

Are you afraid of needles? If you are, so am l. Well, I'm not afraid of sewing needles but what I meant were shots. I can't stand them. I'm so afraid that as soon as my parents tell me that I'm going to get a shot soon, I act like as if we were going to jump into a volcano. Oh my.

The last time I got a shot was my flu shot. What happened is that my aunt came straight to our house after she was done working and came with our flu shot. My dad, sister, and I each got one.

I got mine in the bathroom. That's because I was wearing a long sleeve shirt so I had to take it off. My mom went inside the bathroom with me with my shot. As soon as she was about to inject my with the shot, I kept on asking her a gazillion questions. I'm guessing she got a bit impatient and injected me very quickly. *Poke*. Right after she injected me, for some reason, I started laughing like as if somebody just told me the funniest joke in the world.

Even after that, I'm still a tiny bit scared of needles. Ok, a lot.

The chipmunk nibbled at the seeds on my hand, and a ticklish sensation shot through me like a bolt of lightning. It was unbelievable! An animal was actually eating from my hand!

One warm summer morning, my family and I set out to go hiking at Cypress Mountain. After what seemed like ages of trekking up the rugged mountainside, we finally arrived at the summit. There, our legs were able to take a well-deserved break. Suddenly, we spotted a movement in the bushes, and a moment later, a chipmunk burst out! It scurried right up to us and scampered around each person. Unfortunately, we didn't have any food at the time, so the chipmunk moved on to the other people at the summit. However, I was as determined as ever to get closer to the chipmunk.

The long journey up the mountain was repeated the next day. My legs were driven by the hope of finding the chipmunk again, and this time we were prepared; a small box of seeds was stored in my dad's backpack. Luckily, the chipmunk came out for food yet again when we got to the top. This time, when I put my hand out with a small pile of seeds on it, it put its paws right onto my hand to get to the delicious food. I wondered why the chipmunk wasn't afraid of people. Maybe there were so many people that came up there every day that it was used to them.

(not done, will add more later)

I have a connection.
This summer, when I was at Lake Louise, we were having dinner outside our hotel and there were a few chipmunks scurrying everywhere trying to find food. Soon, there were two people trying to eat when a chipmunk hopped onto their table. It was shocking! Then later, a chipmunk approached me and I guess it wanted some food too. I was petrified as rock. Luckily, my mom scared it away and the next day we only ate inside the hotel.

That was probably the closest I've ever gotten to an wild animal! I fed it over and over again, until I was sure that its den must be bursting with seeds like a stuffed turkey at Thanksgiving. That experience was one of the most thrilling moments I've had in the wild, and I hope that I will be able to experience more things like this in the future!

I was staring at the giant metal tube like it was the thing that would cost me my life. I wondered if I would actually really voluntarily jump on that thing with my snowboarding grinding the metal. But it was my only choice, it was now or never, I have been delaying this for too long. The cold wind was really getting to me and the suspense was even colder. Without thinking about anything in the world other than that tube I dropped in and hoped for the best. My knees were bent and shaking, without thinking about it my knees sprang up and My board lifted of from the tiny kicker and I had landed on to the tube. Chhhhhhng went my board as it grind on the metal. There was a rush of adrenaline and excitement, and befriend I could even process landing it I was already riding away from it, I had succeeded. There was a rush of relief, happiness and excitement going through, and it was way less scary then I expected. Maybe it was kind of a chicken move to delay this so much.

When my friend came looking for me, I was hiding in one of my favorite places to hide. My friend came to my house for a playdate, and we were playing hide and seek. It was my turn to hide and I hid in my secret spot. I hide in a lot of places, but all of them have one thing related, they are all unexpected. Some of my favorite places include in the closet, in the laundry, under my desk, and behind the door.

I hid in my closet, and he started looking. I brought my Rubik's cube because I knew I had a good hiding spot, and that I would get bored. I brought my quiet speed cube because if it was a loud cube, he could find me easily. When he gave up, I quickly went out of the closet, and pretended I went into the bathroom. This is a good idea (for me) because the person looking will never know the secret. But, if the person is in the same room as you, you have to reveal your secret.

I hope my friend doesn't find out where I hide...

Letter J: Justice for Rotten Apples

If I were a Food

Food is essential in life. But what if you were one? Today, I will be telling you what food I would want to be and why.

The big question: What food do I want to be? I would like to be a rotten apple. Now, you may be thinking, "Kaitlin, you want to be disgusting?" Yes, yes I do. Then, I won't have to suffer through someone eating me; instead I can hopefully rot peacefully in the ground and grow new, better apples using my seeds to grow apple trees. You may be reconsidering your opinion on my decision now!

Even though I would be as disgusting as a stray rat, this is what food I'd be if I had the choice.

any feedback about my entry?

Letter J: Justice for Rotten Apples

If I were a Food REVISED

"Ew," I commented, not daring to touch the pile of garbage. It was at that moment that I knew what food I wanted to be. This is what food I'd become if given the choice.

I'm now asking myself: "Wouldn't you have to be an edible food though?" My answer to me is: "Yes, though rotten apples are still edible! It's just that no one would want to eat them." If I needed to pick an appealing food, I'd have no clue what to pick; there's so many!

Even though I would be as disgusting as a stray rat, this is what food I'd be if I had the choice.

any feedback? (sorry for not reading the success criteria in time haha)

In the past, I had a horrible fear of dogs. I never knew why, because I always loved puppies! Yet whenever I stepped close to them I would freak out. Never knew why, but it’s all okay now!

I overcame this fear on a chilly day. How did it happen? Well, it all happened because I wished to not drop my ice cream. My family took me out to the dock to buy some fish, and I got some ice cream on the way! On the dock, it was cold and my hands were freezing. I was so cold that I forgot about my fear of dogs, and to this day I haven’t really been scared!

I happily skipped out of school, as I say farewell to my friends. The bright sun shone and the cool wind blew. It was an perfect afternoon. As I was reaching mid-way home, a suspicious looking man was walking slowly, behind me. He was wearing a black jacket and carrying a grey satchel. I begin to feel eerie and started to walk faster. The stranger also gained speed as he start to grumble gibberish loudly. I gulped and beads of sweat was began to form on my forehead. I ran. I ran quickly, trying to lose him. Eventually, I slowed down and paced myself as I have arrived home.

Looking around me, I saw everyone laughing and playing games with their friends in their friend group. It was my first day of school at this new school. I remember thinking all of these people have know each other for years. Most of them have been going to school together since kindergarten, while I had just come now, in grade 6. When you’re a new kid, people don’t really talk to you because they don’t know who you are and what you’re like. Being surrounded by kids who are already friends and have known each other for a while made me feel awkward and out of place.

On the first day of school at my new school, I felt out of place. While i stood in line quiet and not talking to anyone, everyone around me talked to their friends and talking about their summer vacation. All I could think about was how uncomfortable I felt and how everyone probably thought I was weird. A few teachers walked by and waved to students they knew or had in their class previous years or had a small conversation about their summer and new class. When they passed by me, they just looked at me and smiled. That made me anxious because I didn’t know what they were thinking.

Lining up in the morning was bad, but recess was 10, worse. Everyone gathered with their friends from other classes and played games and talked. Since I didn’t know anyone, I was alone for recess. In any other situation, 15 minutes would’ve been a really short time, but in that moment it felt like each second was 10 years. I spent the recess looking around and observing people, trying to get an idea of what they were like. That really only worked for 5-7 minutes. I still had half the recess to go. ‘8 more minutes… 7… 6…’ I kept thinking about the time. I looked at the time like 20 times in a minute. Finally, the bell rang. That day was a short day, so a little after recess we’d get dismissed. I felt so relieved that this day was almost over. It had been complete torture.

Ok im going to tell you about a time when me and my friend went to the zoo and something crazy happened. so this all started when we got there i looked at the zebras. And then i went to the flamingos and this is like the funniest animal ever at the zoo. So the flamingos are funny because they walk up to the glass and peck on it because its just so funny and weird when you see this animal staring you down. I think its because they arent used to seeing people. So thats a funny encounter with one of my favourite animals.

SWOSH as I slid down.....

Every summer me and my family would always go to this one water park, they had tons of different rides from drop downs, to splash bowls.

There was this one ride called speed slide, It was one of those drop slides where it was like going over a waterfall. When I was younger I couldn't go on it because I was to small, also I didn't have the nerve to do it. The feeling of gravity pushing down on me like a brick wasn't something that wasn't pleasing feeling for me.

this last summer I wanted to try and go down it since I wasn't able to go for a couple years. once I got there slides I decided to go on the ride.
I finally started walking up the stares to get to the top each step I took my heart started to beat faster and faster I thought to myself, do I really want to do this???
When I got to the top I was pacing around in the line, once I got to the start of the ride I laided down.
I waited as the person said I could go now...... at the very top of the slide there was a part where it was curved from straight to down. SWOSH as I slid down. the water was a jet in my face I couldn't see anything the beginning how hard gravity was pushing me made me want to gag. the rest made me feel a little ill. after I exited the ride I though, It wasn't as bad as I thought It was.

After that things like that didn't really make me anxious.

“Be quiet” the girl said after I said hello to her. I didn’t expect for her to say that to me! My 4th grader self just wanted to meet someone new and play some of my number one favorite game Roblox!!
I was in the 4th grade (I think) and walked into class. I’m pretty sure that I started school a bit later then everyone else, since I was out on a trip. I sat down and someone did a presentation, and the presentation was about Roblox, which was my favorite game when i was like 8 or something. I felt excited, someone else who also plays Roblox?? No way!!
The presentations were over and me wanting to have someone else to play Roblox with, thought it would be a good idea to make friends with her. I went over to the girl and said “Hey” to her. “Be quiet.” the girl said. I was surprised, i just wanted to become friends and play some of my most FAVORITE game with a new friend! I didn’t expect her to just instantly say that. After she said that I just slid away from her and then did whatever i was supposed to do.
Afterwards, I don’t know how it happened but me and her actually became friends, even after that very rude first introduction. :( Me and her also found out that we lived only one house away, so i’m pretty sure that’s when me and her started to really be friends. Needless to say we played quite a lot of roblox.

is this alpha biography?

When it come to needles, some of you may think I have no trouble with them, but in reality, I am not the person that many think I am. If one were to mention anything even close to needles, I am no match against my fear. My heart rate would speed up, I would start to hyper ventilate and sweat profusely. As an example, about two years ago, I had to go get my chicken pox vaccine. Before my appointment, I always avoided thinking about that day, because the very thought of it would send me into a fight flight freeze response, and therefore ruining my day.

And, dreaded day came, I felt like death had arrived at my front door. at first, I calmed myself down to a heart rate slow enough to not give myself a heart attack, but as we approached the clinic, my heart skipped a beat and I couldn't calm myself down anymore, I started to ask my mother if it was going to hurt even when I knew her response would be like a gust of wind. I was far gone in my own world, way far gone. when we got there, I had already went into a deep freeze and couldn't, and wouldn't move a muscle. But to no avail, my protest was none like George Floyd's, so I was hauled out of the car, and into the clinic. The clinic was nothing special, with the chairs and a few occasional magazines, there was nothing else to do but worry on a "comfortable" chair. As I worried, I realized that I didn't want to make a fool of myself in public, so I started to make a script of what I would say, act, and talk like. When my name was called, I was ready, I stood up and got ready. Lights, Cameras, Action.

Yeah, that never happened. It was basically 9/11, but worse for all of the nurses in the clinic. Even though none were injured, I still left them quite traumatized. And I am DEFINITELY NOT GOING INTO CONTEXT OF WHAT HAPPENED. After we (all nurses and resources) were finished, I was showed the door at the speed of light and given the boot. To this day, I still don't think my mother has fully recovered from the events that day.

Today, I am still uncomfortable with needles but I won't freak out anymore. To the people out there who are scared of needles, here are some tips:
1. don't look at the freaking needle for the entire duration
2. don't tell the nurse to be quick because I had a really nasty experience with that trick
3. don't try to delay your fate because the nurse will get annoyed and will very likely not try to distract you from the needle

Overall, don't be scared of needles because you're going to be the one who causes world destruction if you are.

What superpower I would choose.

Have you ever wondered what superpower you want? Well here is my opinion on what I would choose. I think I will choose time traveling because then I can correct things and see what’s going to happen. I can also basically teleport by going a few seconds into the past or future and go to where ever I want to go. Another reason I would choose this one is because I can re live moments over and over again. This is why I would choose time traveling if I had a superpower.

(Revised)
Glaring at the text from my friend, I was reminded of the cruel reality. The reality where I forgot to do PAR again...
Tick. Tock. The clock strikes 9. I know I’m supposed to sleep, but I had work to complete. Not doing PAR is like writing a letter to the devil, asking for death. My brain spins and my eyes space out, with no ideas to write down, I bang my head on the desk in frustration. I needed to think of something, anything! Consequences are dire, I was so afraid. If I couldn’t finish a passage quick enough, the dreaded homework slip will haunt me. With a discredit like that, my chances of getting a homework pass this month would be zero.
Tick, tock, the clock strikes 10. I already began to panic. The end is near, my doom awaits. At this point I don’t feel fear anymore, and as each minute passes, I began to slowly give myself up. My eyes leave the screen. I sit back and stare off into the distance. I’ve already began to imagine my future. A future where the weekly terrific text was never handed to me, a future where I would never see my second homework pass. But out of inevitable darkness, I see a spark of hope. A tiny lightbulb in the center of the darkness. I scramble forward to reach it. I grab the light, and as I open my palm, the tiny luminescence glows up the surrounding darkness. Suddenly, ideas flow in, I convert my thoughts into words, typing and editing. There was light at the end of the tunnel after all. At the end of the day, that last bit of hope was what changed everything.

There are a lot of dangerous things happen to me in the past 12 years, but this one I'm talking about I have no idea how I survived it.
It was Saturday morning, and my Dad decided to go to the bookstore with me. As we arrived, my dad parked the car beside a very busy Street. I was pretty happy because it is Saturday and I can have a lot of fun so I was just playing around. As I cross the road, I forgot to look to the left and the right, so when I passed the road a car just passed in front of me. The car is in the speed of 40 km per hour, and it just sliced through in front of me. I can feel the touching my hoodie and I can feel the wind when it passed by me, if I just walked a bit faster I would have died!
Because it was so dangerous my dad banned me for crossing the road for a few weeks, and it took me of several hours to come out of it, too. It was so scary!😭

If I had 1 million dollars I would buy myself a lot of nice things.

I'd buy a Dodge Charger and a Ram 1500. When I was younger I always loved trucks. My uncle has a Ram truck and I really like it. It can hold a lot of stuff and it can be used for off road. I like the Dodge Charger because its loud and it has a nice interior. I'd buy a black Ram truck and a black Dodge Charger. They look cool.

With the leftover money I'd buy an apartment and invest the rest. I would buy myself 3 gaming computers and I would stream daily and play with other people. I'd also get a job that pays well so I can stream daily. This would be a good life.

Have you ever thought about how money affects your life? Money can do so many things buy food, buy new tech, buy new pencils, buy new cars, and even buy houses! Money can buy you so many things and if you don't have any money then you will be in a lot of trouble and I will tell you why.

First, money can make you happy. Although, many people say that money doesn't make you happy and people make you happy, yes that is true but you still need money because it's such a big thing in our society and you need it to survive. When you have a lot of money, you will feel relaxed because you know that there is almost no chance that you will experience bankruptcy. Another reason that money makes you happy is if you win a lot of money like you company has a huge demand of your products and you have enough supply for the demand or you just won the lottery then you will obviously be exuberant.

Second, Money keep society moving. Imagine a world without money. Everyone wouldn't ever want a job because they wouldn't get paid. Who needs school when you don't even need it? People would just steal things from stores because you can't even pay! If money didn't exist then imagine all the chaos that the world would be. Life wouldn't move on. Why would farmers farm if they wouldn't earn any money? Why would people invent things if they didn't get paid things? People could just steal their products and they wouldn't get anything in return. If this happened then this world would just be over. People would get greedy and steal until they are the strongest and they would start wars. The world would be destroyed and humanity will go extinct.

Have you ever thought about these two reasons? Yes money is not everything but it still matters. In this world we still need money to survive and keep moving forwards. If you don't have a job and are going bankrupt then here's some quick advice, go get a job as soon as possible and in the meantime, while you are still finding a job, go get a part time job at a fast food store or a supermarket. If you go bankrupt and have no money left then good luck surviving in this world because trust me. It will be very hard to get back on your feet once you are bankrupt. That is why I think money matters in life and money should not be ignored.

I agree but you didn't add 2 feelings.

You've all had a secret and special place with your best friend that no one else was allowed in or really knew about, right? I remember mine so vividly even thought it was years and years ago.

My old best friend and I were really close, and we would be at each others house all the time. Her house was my second home.

She had this old tree house in her back yard and whenever I would go to her house, we would always go in there secretly and we had a whole set up. We would make food, lounge, talk for hours, play made-up games, and a bunch more. No one else would ever go in there.

It's been a while since I have seen her but I always remember that little tree house. I remember the feeling when her mom would be looking for us and we would be laughing in there and I would think about how I would always want to live in that tree house forever and never leave. We would spend more time in that tree house then her house!

That's the secret place that I had with my old bestfriend.

Being Successful in School

Do you think you are smart? Do you think you will study at a good university and get a good job? I think I will.

I got into the VLN and it is said that if you get good grades in it, you can study at UBC and it was very exciting when I told my parents that I got into VLN they were so happy and they gave me hugs.

A few hours earlier, my heart was beating. I had chocolate for snack but I wasn't smiling or talking to my friends. At recess, I was just thinking about my tests. You might've guessed it, I was feeling depressed. I was thinking to myself " What if I don't pass the test and get a job when I grow up?". "What if I become homeless?". Then Mr.Fisher called me and nervously, I checked my results. AND I PASSED! Since then I was eating properly and I had a smily face. All thoughts of becoming homeless and not getting a good job were erased from my mind, and I shall go on to become a smartie like Albert Einstein.

Feedback please.
