Today we had the fantastic presentation by Green Thumb Theatre on taking care of the world. Lets do our part and make the earth is great place for the future generations. In math we finished up graphing and moved right into algebra. The afternoon was spent completing the scripts and story boards for our French Animation Project! Next week we will be get our novels and groups and will start our novel approach book clubs! We want give a huge shout out to Ray who is competing in the Junior Provincial Badminton Championships this weekend. We are cheering for you Ray!

Variable = letter used to represent a number
Coefficient= Number used to multiply a variable
Constant = Number in equation that never changes
Expression= Mathematical question that isnt complete
Equation = you have everything listed above and the equal sign

YOU GOT THIS RAY! YOU CAN BEAT EVERYONE!

Now for my PAR:
Let's say this is what I see: 3x-6=y

3x-6=y is an example of an equation, because there's an equal sign.
3x-6 is an example of an expression, because there isn't an equal sign.
3 is an example of a coefficient, because it's attached to a variable. *Note that a coefficient is a type of constant because it doesn't change
x is an example of a variable because it's a letter used to symbolize a value.
6 is an example of a constant because it doesn't change no matter what x is.

I just realised I should probably define the words...

Equation: An expression with an = sign. It represents that both sides of the = sign are equivalent.

Expression: A mathematical phrase with regular numbers and/or variables.

Variable: A letter used to represent a value in an equation.

Coefficient: A number used to multiply a variable, which you can find right next to each other.

Constant: A number in an equation that never changes.

Variable: is an alphabetical letter representing a particular amount of something that you have to figure out.

Constant: is a number that is not effected by the variable and that stand by itself.

Coefficient: is a number that is right beside a variable (no spaces) and is used to multiply the variable. You can put a “x” but that would just mess up the equation.

Expression: is basically like an incomplete equation; it has all the coefficients, constants, variables and BEDMAS, but without an equal sign nor an answer.

Equation: Eveything above but with an answer and equal sign.

Variable: A letter that represents an numerical amount.
Expression: A mathematical phrase (doesn't involve an = sign)
Equation: Includes all of the math terms that we are learning about, as well as an "=".
Constant: A precise number that stands on it's own without any variables.
Coefficient: A constant that is right beside a variable in an equation.

Go kick some butt Ray xD

A variable is a letter that is used to represent a number that isn't fixed or can change.

An expression is a math phrase that doesn't include an equal sign. It's just letters and numbers and other stuff xD

Equations are expressions with equal signs

Constants are number in an expressions or equations that never change

Coefficients are numbers that are beside a variable

problom 3x-6=y.

COEFFICIENT:A NUMBER ATACHED TO A VARIABLE
(3)x-6=y
VARIABLE: A LETTER REPRESENTING AN UNKNOWN VALUE
3(X)-6=Y
CONSTANT:NUMBER THAT NEVER CHANGES
3X-(6)=Y
------------------------------------------------
EXPRESSION: SAYING WITH NO = SIGN
A=5 OR 5=A
EQUATION
3x-6=y

1) A variable is a letter like x, because a variable can vary, and it can
be anything.

2) A constant is a number that can't change like 7, it is already defined
and it can't change into any other number.

3)A coefficient is a constant, but it is just attached to the variable like
the 3 in 3y.

4)An expression is just variables and with constants and coefficient like
3x-1

5)An equation is an expressions with an equal sign like 3x - 1 = 5.

Variable: a letter or symbol used to represent a numeric term: y+q

Constant: a number in an equation or expression that cannot be changed: 2x-7=? The 7 cannot be changed

An expression is a math phrase that does not include an equal sign: A+4555

Equation: an expression with an equal sign: 23+r=?

Coefficients are numbers beside a variable: v5+123=?

Variable: not consistent or having a fixed pattern; liable to change

constant: occurring continuously over a period of time

coefficient: a numerical or constant quantity placed before and multiplying the variable in an algebraic expression

expression: the process of making known one's thoughts or feelings.

equation: a statement that the values of two mathematical expressions are equal.

expression: a mathematical phrase that can contain ordinary numbers, variables, constants but without an equal sign.
Example: 2x+3=y
Variable: x
Constant: 3
Coefficient: 2
Expression: 2x+3
Equation: 2x+3=y

Example: 4x - 2 = y
Variable: x, a letter that represents an amount
Constant: 2, a number on it's own
Coefficient: 4, the number that is multiplied with the variable
Expression: 4x - 2, a math phrase that doesn't have an equal sign
Equation: 4x - 2 = y, an expression with an equal sign

A typical equation you might see: 2x+3=y

Variable(x,y)-A letter that symbolize an unknown or undetermined value.

Constant(3)-A number which never changes in an equation.
(alternative definition-a term with no variable)

Coefficient(2)-The number in which a variable is multiplied by.

Equation(2x+3=y)-A mathematical phrase with an equal sign symbolizing equal values on both sides of the equation.

Expression(2x+3)-A mathematical phrase made up of numbers and/or the above with no equal sign.

A variable is a unknown or not yet known number that is symbolized by a letter e.g X,Y. For example in 5+X the X is the variable.

The constant is a fixed number that does not change. For example in 5+X the number 5 is the constant.

A coefficient is a constant multiplied by a variable. For example in 5x+3 5x is the coefficient.

A equation is a math sentence with a equal sign. Proving that the numbers on either side of the equal sign are equal. An example of a equation is 5+5=10.

An expression is an math sentence with no equal sign. For example 5+X.
