Goal setting

10/10/2018

Picture
Today was another busy day of learning. We started off in the gym doing gymnastics and then had a lesson on the goal setting process and the principles of training (FITT and SAID). We reviewed the basic goal setting steps and then used the principles of training to set a personal fitness goal. We will be finishing the goals this week and students will be expected to start their action plans right away. Students will carry out their action plans for the next month.   We will do our second round of fitness testing in December to see if students have met their goals.

The things that i know about Pakistan are that it is a third world country, there is lots of poverty i think, and its hot there. What i think i know about Pakistan is that there is a little bit of child labor and there are some really nice places there and there are some places that aren't as nice. What i want to learn about Pakistan is about their culture, how most of their lives work and there education.

This is not a paragraph, Nicholas. Re-read the PAR and make some revisions. Please try and put a little more effort into you post.

Pakistan is a very interesting country. I know that Pakistan makes a lot of sporting equipment, such as soccer balls that are even used for FIFA world cups. I also know that in Pakistan, there are many farms. I think that the people in Pakistan are very religious because of all the temples, and mosques. I want to know about the peoples wealth, and I also am curious about the education in Pakistan. In conclusion, I think that Pakistan is a very unique country!

Although Pakistan is a young country,It demonstrates economic growth. In addition,Pakistan is culturally and geographically diverse. Pakistan produces threads for cloth, sports equipment popular even in FIFA, and agricultural products, such as wheat, fruits, and vegetables.

I would like to know how where Pakistan gets water, and whether Pakistan produces heavy machinery equipment, such as tractors, cars, trains, and so on.

What I know about Pakistan is that the boys and girls are separated for the school well at least that's what they said in Amal Unbound. I think I also know that the village is small but I'm starting retract my statement after the seeing the video, though. If I ever go to Pakistan, I be aware to check out the unique terrains because based on the video, I found the terrains the most interesting part.

Matthew

I was studying the pictures and names for the plants but I'm not sure if the pictures on the sample sheets are going to be the one the test.

david

I want to make this clear for everyone. That video was an ad for you to go to Pakistan. Now, we all know that tourism ads do not depict an entire country. It only depicts the rich parts of the cities or the most fertile lands of the country. That add missed about 70 percent of the entire country. I'm not saying that Pakistan is dirty and filthy, its just that some places have been hit hard by poverty. Not everyone is happily dancing around or drinking wine. Tens of millions of people worry about surviving.

Some things that I know about Pakistan is that it is a very diverse country. It is heavily influenced by many cultures and many reports say that Pakistan people support each other the most and they share everything they have with each other. I know that Pakistan has been afflicted by terrorism and recently learned that the government just sent in 5000 troops to fight terrorists.

Some things I think I know is that they have a lot of shady organizations in Pakistan. I also believe that there is a lot of forced child labor and forced child recruitment in the Pakistan. Not necessarily in the military, but in the country as evil groups plot to launch attacks.

I want to how the locals managed to endure all these years of corrupt governments, terrorism, threats from India, overpopulation, and poverty. I want to know where they get their hopes from and why still have strong faith in their government.

I believe that Pakistani people are among the bravest people as they endured so much and many still have high hearts and hopes for themselves, their family, and their country. I hope one day, they could live in a peaceful environment.

I don’t really know much about Pakistan but here’s what I know. I know that in Pakistan there are political unrest and poverty.
I think Pakistan has a very unique culture and tradition because of all the temples and religious buildings.
What I want to know about Pakistan: their food, culture, religion and native animals.

Annabelle

Can you try adding a topic sentence and a conclusion?

Mountain

Pakistan is a country that has been suffering from poverty and political unrest.
I don’t really know much about Pakistan but here’s what I know. I know that in Pakistan there are political unrest and poverty.
I think Pakistan has a very unique culture and tradition because of all the temples and religious buildings.
What I want to know about Pakistan: their food, culture, religion and native animals.
In conclusion though Pakistan is currently suffering from poverty and child labour I think there are many ways for us to help such as donating.

Ester
10/10/2018 05:36:23 pm

Pakistan from what I heard of, has a lot of poverty and political issues. Sexism and child labour is a thing I heard was one of the problems. Even though there is a lot of issues I think their overall culture is quite unique. I would like to know less of the negatives and more of the positives. I want to know what their culture is really about.

I don’t know much about Pakistan. But I know that there are many sand pyramids/castles there and it’s also very hot there. I don’t know much about their culture. But I do know that Muslim Women wear a scarf around her head, only revealing the face. The scarf is called a chador. That’s pretty much what I know, but I would like to learn what’s their traditional food like.

Ivan

Mr.fisher will give you 17 plants but you will only need to do 12 of them.

Jorge
10/10/2018 06:45:24 pm

Pakistan is a country that is in war, I know that boys and girls go to different schools because they can't be seen together and that in their religion boys are more important IN THEIR RELIGION.

Kheyria
10/10/2018 07:17:51 pm

Jorge, the fact that men are more important than women is not entirely true. They need men for labor work such as farming and building, but they also need women to take care of the children, make food, and keep a family organized so everyone can live their life.

Joseph

First, shoutout to @Mr.Fisher for actually implementing my idea of linking the plant samples :D

Now, to the PAR.
As David pointed out - that video is a travel advertisement. Travel Advertisements are often misleading. There are no FALSE facts in it, so to speak, but it's hiding a lot of information. It only shows the most picturesque locations, while hiding some of the more shady or not-so-tourism-friendly locations.

What I know about Pakistan is the following.
Pakistan is a world superpower, having one of the top ten militaries on Earth, and is one of only NINE nuclear powers. Meaning, Pakistan has nuclear weapons. Usually when a country has nuclear weapons, it feels threatened. In this case, Pakistan has been embroiled in a number of conflicts with India, a neighboring country and fellow nuclear power.

Pakistan is known for harboring several militant groups, including ISIS, Al-Qaeda, and the Taliban. The Pakistan army has been in a fight with ISIS for several years, injuring thousands of civilians and killing hundreds.

Although Pakistan has a large population, it is a relatively small country. Overpopulation is a definite problem, as well as poverty.

I would like to learn how Pakistan has managed to survive all these years, and even thrive - they still have a relatively strong economy, a strong military, and a fast-growing middle class despite everything that's happened - the conflicts with India, the terrorist organizations on their land and the overpopulation/poverty.

Maybe one day, after Pakistan has driven all the militant organizations out of their country, and settled their conflict towards India, they could become a true world power, and a developed nation. The people of Pakistan have endured so much... maybe someday they can be repaid for their efforts.

-Joseph

I don’t know know much about Pakistan, besides the girl wears the head piece (forgot what it’s called), and the boys and girls are separated.

2. I don’t understand what this means?? Isn’t this like exactly like the other one but just guessing?

3. I want to know why girls wear that head piece around their hair. (That sounds weird? I don’t know. I don’t wanna sound offensive lol) The backstory, how it was created, etc.

Sarah
10/10/2018 07:30:10 pm

I don't know much about Pakistan. I know from the book that were reading in class that there seems to be poverty there. I also know that in the book girls and boys are separated and not supposed to be friends. I also know that from the book that there are arranged marriages. I think Pakistan is different from Canada. I would like to know if women in Pakistan are seen as equivalent to men.

Sarah, can you spot a missing punctuation?

One thing that I know is that Pakistan is in the Middle East. Something that I think I know is that Pakistan has a good economy. I also think I know that boys and girls are separated in schools. I want to learn more about what life is like in Pakistan for families and how different it is from ours in Canada. Reading AMAL UNBOUND will probably give me information about Pakistan.

Len
10/10/2018 07:44:40 pm

I don't know much about Pakistan but I do know that there is war there and poverty throughout the country. I know that the food there is good and has a beautiful landscape. I learned form the video that Pakistan experiences all four seasons. I thought that Pakistan was like just a plain dessert but was wrong. They have a very interesting culture/religion and i would love to learn more about it. I would love to visit there some day.

Kheyria
10/10/2018 07:54:16 pm

What I know about Pakistan is enough to give you the feel of what kind of country it is. I know that 97% of Pakistan consists of the Muslim culture (which i am a part of) meaning that they don't allow girls to interact with boys so of course they separate boys from the girls in pretty much everything. I also know that most people aren't very wealthy so they can't afford to live a proper life.
I THINK they speak Arabic. I'm not exactly sure but I think they most likely do. You don't hear very many people saying that they want to go to Pakistan for vacation so I imagine the climate can be very harsh and dry.
I want to learn what makes Pakistan an amazing country so that I may appreciate it more than I already do. I also want to know if Pakistan has 2 or more rivers or any other source of water. I look forward to learning the answers to my questions in 'Amal Unbound' so that I might learn more about her and her country.

Fun Fact:
__________________________________________________
I learned a little bit of Arabic before I came to Laurier.

Kheyria
10/10/2018 08:00:42 pm

Sorry, I didn't watch the video before asking if they had more than 2 sources of water in Pakistan.
I now know....
" THEY HAVE COUNTLESS RIVERS AND STREAMS ACROSS THE COUNTRY" as stated in the video.

I don’t know many things about Pakistan. I know that girls and boys are separated. Woman have to wear these head pieces called chadors. And I know that there is poverty in Pakistan. I think that Pakistan is very fascinating. I would want to know why the boys and girls are separated from each other.

10/10/2018 09:20:18 pm

well what I know is that Pakistan isn't just a desert where cities popped out of nowhere but a divers landscape and cool landmass. what i would want to learn about Pakistan is how it's diffrent from the rest of the world?

You have to write a paragraph and check your punctuation.

Jessica

I know that Pakistan's official name is the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and is surrounded by Iran, Afghanistan, China, and India (I think). There is also a prime minister and a president. In Pakistan, I think the national language is Urdu but the official language is English. I want to know what the currency is in Pakistan and how it’s government is run. (Why is there a prime minister and a president?)

Jessica

My revised version:
I know that Pakistan's official name is the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and it is surrounded by Iran, Afghanistan, China, and India. There are a prime minister and a president in Pakistan. I think the national language is Urdu but the official language is English. I want to know what the currency is for Pakistan and how its government is run. (What roles do a prime minister and a president play respectively?)
