It is very important to set up you dividend (your number being divided by) and the divisor (the number dividing the dividend) before dividing or it will either be very challenging to divide, or you will do it completely wrong. The first thing you will have to do is to get your divisor turned into a whole number, not a decimal. This is how yo do it. Move the decimal place right one digit until it reaches the end, which makes it a whole number. Then count how many digits you moved it and you move the same numbers of decimal places right in the dividend too, to keep the equation right. If the decimal place is at the right end for the dividend an you still need to move the decimal, add zeros for it. To finish preparing for the division, you put a decimal right above the one in the dividend, so you won't forget it later on.

So how do you set up a decimal, well its quite simplistic once you understand how to do it.

take 1.4 divided by (4.48 So you keep the decimal point on the inside but you want to get rid of the decimal on the outside. So like in multiplication move the dot however many numbers there are behind the point and in this case their is 1 so, 14. What you do to the outside you must do to the outside so 44.8. and now its set up,
14(44.8.

first you choose two numbers that have dectimals, and than you just take the number on the second place and than devide that number with the other one and you get your number. For example 4.8 divided by 4.2. First you place the decimal behind the last digit on the number that is dividing. After that you need to move the deimal as many time as the other one. And than you place the deimal on top of the decimal of the divident . now you just devide it.

First you would count the decimal places in the divisor and add it onto the dividend. After you would divide the numbers normally and just add the decimal.

DIVIDING DECIMALS:
Set your numbers up in the way you would when dividing whole numbers. You then take the divisor (number that is dividing) and move the decimal point right so that it becomes a whole number. You then need to move it however many decimal points you moved right on the divisor and do the same for the dividend. After doing this, move your decimal point to the same position as it is in your dividend and place it in your answer. You then need to divide how you normally would. After dividing, you should have your answer.

First move the decimal point in the divisor to the right until it’s a whole number and then move the same amount to the right for the dividend. Before you divide, remember to place the decimal point first.

After you move the decimal points, divide the new dividend by the new divisor.

For example, 1.2 divided by 4.80. First, move 1.2s decimal to the right until it’s a whole number, which is 12. Next, move the decimal point in 4.80 the same amount moved to make 1.2 a whole number, which is 48.0. After you move the decimals, divide the two new numbers to get the quotient.

How do you get a problem with decimals ready to divide?

First move the decimal point in the divisor to the right until it’s a whole number and then move the same amount to the right for the dividend. Before you divide, remember to place the decimal point first.

After you move the decimal points, divide the new dividend by the new divisor.

For example, 1.2 divided by 4.80. First, move 1.2s decimal to the right until it’s a whole number, which is 12. Next, move the decimal point in 4.80 the same amount moved to make 1.2 a whole number, which is 48.0. After you move the decimals, divide the two new numbers to get the quotient.

Dividing decimals: first you count the decimal places in the divisor then you add it into the dividend after that you divide the numbered like usual then add the decimal

Edmond
1/13/2020 09:44:39 pm

First you should move the decimal point in the divisor to the right until it is a whole number. Then, you should move the decimal point in the dividend to the right by the same number of places as the decimal point was moved to make the divisor a whole number. After that, divide the new dividend by the new divisor.

Dividing Decimals

Dividing decimals is very simple. Let's use the example 2.5 divided by 0.5 = ??? So first we have to make the divisor a whole number and we do that by moving the decimal point so it becomes 5.0 and we also have to move the decimal point on the other side and it becomes 25.0 so now we divide regularly and then you put the decimal point where it is supposed to be which is right on top on the quotient. Now there you have your answer.
This is how you divide decimals.

Edmond
1/13/2020 09:57:48 pm

First you should move the decimal point in the divisor to the right until it is a whole number. Then, you should move the decimal point in the dividend to the right by the same number of places as the decimal point was moved to make the divisor a whole number. After that, divide the new dividend by the new divisor.
For example, 5.5 divided by 1.5. First move the decimal point to the right until it's a whole number (55). Then, move the decimal point of 1.5 same amount to make it a whole number. After that, divide the two numbers to get the quotient.

Hem

So first, move the divisor's decimal point to the right until it becomes a whole number. Then, move the same amount of decimal places to the right for the dividend. Make sure that the decimal is in the right place and then divide with the new numbers.

For example 1.2 divided by 4.80. 1.2 is the divisor and 4.80 is the dividend. Move 1.2's decimal to the right until it’s a whole number, which is 12. Then, move the decimal point of 4.80 the same amount moved to make 1.2 a whole number. This would be 48.0. Now, divide the two new numbers to get the answer, which is 0.25.

Dividing numbers where the divisor and dividend are both decimals:
When you are dividing decimals, you firstly have to move the decimal point to the right until it becomes a whole number for the divisor. Then, you will have to move the decimal point by the same amount for the dividend. Lastly, once you have finished that, all you have to do is to divide it like normal division.
For example, 4.5 divided by 8.50. You move the decimal point by one for the divisor which makes 45 and you do the same to the dividend which makes 85.0. Then it would be 45 divided by 85.0 which you would find the answer by using normal division.

Ruby

It's pretty easy to get two decimals ready to divide. Basically, you just have to move the decimal point of the divisor however many times to the right to make it a whole number. Do the same to the dividend using the same number of places moved and divide as usual.
For example: 8/3.2=_____
There is one decimal place that you need to shift the decimal point to the right, which now makes it 32. Shift the decimal point 1 place to the right too which is now 80. Now divide as usual. The answer would be 2.5

Dividing decimals :First move divisor decimal point to the right util it is a whole number, then move the decimal point for dividend. Last just divided like normal division.
