  • Today we watched a documentary on a residential school in Ontario and learned of some of the horrific things that took place.
  • You were not even born yet when these things happened and you had nothing to directly do with the events.
  • After learning about what happened, what is your role in all this? What can you do now? What is our job as the people of following generations?
  • Think about your role and share your thinking in a complete paragraph.

Our job as people in this generation is not to be misinform because the indigenous people wants us to know the truth and reconciliation. They want us to know what exactly had happened because they don't want this to happen all over again so we don't have to experience what the indigenous people seen. Our job is to now speak up and stand up for one each other because the truth must be out not being hidden a way in the governments systems. Everyone deserves to know what had happened during that period. My role is now to share this to other people so they can learn about this dark history that happened here in Canada. My thoughts on this was surprising because I'm lucky that this isn't happening right now but these residential schools were horrible since they're beating young indigenous children up doing things that are wrong. The condition that they're at was horrible like food, and how the building was built the food it self was bad because it wasn't cooked properly or it was expired which made the indigenous children sick or die from a disease's. Over all this must been one of the darkest secert here Canada but things can change.

After learning what happened, my role in all this is to support and spread the info for the whole world. The more people who know what happened, the more supporters. I can share what we learned on social media platforms or send the info to trusted sites, where they can help expand everyone's knowledge on this subject. Our job as the next generation is to ensure this never happens again, and show empathy. Also to tell the truth about what happened during the residential school period.

Our job is to tell what happened at that time to the people we know, because the indigenous people wants us to know what happened and apologize, it is a very black history ,so we don't want that to happen ever again. My role is sstanding out for others and keeping others from being ambushed like the indigenous people, so that it will not happen all over again.

We looked at a video today afternoon, our job is to let more people know this black history of Canada so that it won’t happen again. We should stand out for the indigenous people because we won’t know what they feel in that time but we know that it feels more bad that we could ever imagined.

Although our generation was not involved in the harm inflicted on the many Indigenous children who were put in residential schools, we still have the duty to spread the message of the horrible things that happened to them. Our job is to tell our descendants of what happened to the Indigenous children in residential schools because Canada as a whole is working on healing the friendship of the government and the Indigenous communities, and passing on the memories of the schools will help boost the reconciliation because it acknowledges the fact that Canada did something very wrong. By telling our descendants what happened, they will learn to respect the Indigenous communities and recognize how much they have grieved for their ancestors. This will ensure that history will not repeat itself, and the lesson of non-discrimination and reconciliation will be taught to everyone

Many decades ago, First Nations peoples were forced to go to residential schools. They endured many horrific things at the schools as students were often physically, sexually, and mentally abused, and were even tortured for pleasure and entertainment. The students were kept in inhumane conditions and barely had any food to eat. We learned about these incidents in school today, and learned how serious they really were. Our role in being the people of the following generations are to make sure that history does not repeat itself. We have to recognize that this happened instead of covering it up, and respect the First Nations peoples by acknowledging that the past has been very traumatic for their communities. As Canadians, we must work to reconcile with them for the dark period of time in our history. My role to play now is to make sure that everyone knows the truth of the severity of the residential schools, and that this type of discrimination never happens again.

Not so long ago, First nations, where rounded up to be sent to residential schools. The children of the First nations had to endure through countless physical, sexual, and psychological abuse all because they did not believe in the same religion. They were tortured through malnutrition and different "head traumas". Our role in society now is to insure that nothing similar is and will ever happen. Not only should we be spreading awareness, we should also be sharing empathy to those were unfortunately forced to attend such horrifying places.

Today we learned about residential schools and what happened inside them. My role is to make sure everyone knows what happened and help ensure it won’t happen again. I can learn more about indigenous culture through asking indigenous people for information. These people could be teachers, friends, and neighbours. It is important to learn about indigenous culture because it can tell us a lot more about history than what we know now. It is our job as the people to stop discriminating against a particular race or group of people.

Today we watched a documentary about residential schools. My role is to tell people about what happened to the kids that went to residential schools and make sure that history will not repeat. I can help by asking other people that has been in the situation so they can help me understand better about what happed and hope that this would never happen again. I am very lucky to not be in a residential school because it is very bad and it can affect you for your whole life. I also feel sad for the students that was forced to go and never be able to see their families again. Lastly I hope that this would never affect our country again and I also want people to tell other people about what happened to these children.

Not to repeat history and tell our younger generations to not do the same mistake as they did. This way history will not repeat itself. :)

Today in the library, we watched a video about the dark history of residential schools. Many children has suffered from physical, mental, and sexual abuse. Our job today is to acknowledge and spread the information of what happened to Indigenous people. Our job is to not repeat what had happened and support each other because we don't want the anarchy to start all over again. I always thought that residential schools were just punishments like burning children's hands with coal, but I never knew it could be more dark than that. It was really surprising and frustrating for me to learn that people before could so such things and not care about it. They were mostly abused physically and sexually, with electrical chairs, forcing children to eat their own vomit, and much more. As well as the poor condition of the area they live in and how they live. Today, we all should acknowledge that we are very lucky that we had not experienced that, and show pity towards Indigenous people who had suffered horribly, and never start something like this ever again.

Today we watched a documentary about residential schools. My roles is tells people what happened before and make sure they don’t develop this history in the future again. I can share today informations on Social Medias, then lots of heartiness people would spread the news out too. Our job as the next generation is to endure that the horrible history never appear or develop again. To make sure, this entire bad history won’t be spread to our next generations.

Even though we were born after the closing of residential school’s, we still have a role to play, we should help those who have been affected by residential school’s by reconciling with them. We can do this by spreading awareness of residential schools as some people may not know what terrible things happened there. By spreading the word, I think that we can help the survivors to feel better knowing that this atrocity has not gone unnoticed. If enough people start doing this, soon, hopefully everybody will be educated about this subject.

After all that has happened, we still have a role to play. Which includes helping First Nations people and spreading awareness. We should help First Nations people to make sure that the next generation would be better. We should also awareness and tell everyone the actual truth about these horrifying residential schools.

Today, we watched a documentary about residential schools. I think our generation should spread the news and resist from repeating history. We should respect Indigenous Peoples and endure that these horrific events never happen again.
