WELCOME TO MR FISHER'S CLASS

Ordeing & comparing fractions

11/26/2018

Picture
We started word work again today and this week we are working on basic classroom phrases in French. The French posters are well underway and will be up by Friday to help us in speaking French in class. We completed another round of science observations and kept collecting both qualitative and quantitate data to help us answer our big science inquiry question. Can you remember the big guiding question for our ecosystems inquiry? (Post it in the  PAR if you can) After science, we worked on applying the strategies we discovered for comparing fractions. It was great to see students using the strategies that they came up with. (Can you also find the two strategies missing form the picture? (post them on the PAR if you can)
1) Skating Thursday:
  • Drivers needed (sign up here)
2) Math:

We Day.
As me and Sameer raced down the stairs i quickly got out my device to take the photo. When i asked the figure to take a photo with me i was star struck. I got to take a photo with Margaret Trudeau. But that was not the end.

We day is an event were people preform and talk about stuff. Specifically what people talked about was to love yourself the way you. You should be proud of yourself and be happy. A lot of people shared their story on their life and their struggles and how you can possibly relate to their stories.

I started off the day pumped and excited. I wasn't even tired when i woke up, i was only excited. When i got to school i was glad to see all my peers ready for the day. As we walked to the sky train station we talked about how excited we were to see everyone perform. When we entered the train there was barely any room. It felt squishy, scorching hot, and it was super uncomfortable. You could feel sweat dripping down your face and people bumping into you. When we got off the train i could feel fresh air. I took a deep breath in and out.

Later on we had finally arrived at the arena. It was jam packed, but we had pretty good seats. If we were sitting more to the middle something crazy wouldn't have happened. There were many good performances. After Margaret Trudeau had a talk about how she got diagnosed with bipolar disorder. After she finished she walked towards the exit but me and Sameer quickly rushed to her .As me and Sameer raced down the stairs i quickly got out my device to take the photo. When i asked the figure to take a photo with me i was star struck. I got to take a photo with Margaret Trudeau. She was really nice and said i was nice as well. After that I Drew Scott made a performance. If you don't know who Drew Scott is he is a famous realtor on a TV show called property brothers. At home me and my family watch his episodes. Drew Scott was about to make a performance but me and Sameer quickly ran down again and we got a photo. I told him i watch his shows and he said thank you in a surprised voice. After that i was super happy. After my favourite performance came. The performance was by a girl named Noor Fadel. Noor Fadel is a young Muslim girl. She had been attacked on a sky train by a man. She talked about those events and then she talked about her after. She felt like the world hated her and she didn't feel so happy. I think she felt like she had fallen and couldn't get back out, she needed to be strong to get back up. She was super strong though. So she talked about it and everyone realized what she felt like. My favourite song performance was by a DJ named Sonreal. Sonreal sings a famous song called Shots Fired. He's performance was fun and exciting. You could feel the electricity in the arena. The arena felt like an earthquake. After that me and Sameer ran again to take a photo and this time Sameer talked to him about some stuff. Lastly was a performance by a singer called Lights. After that we walked back to school happy and still filled with energy. After that we i went home and looked at all my photos.

I had a really good time and i would like to thank Ms.Tan and Mr.Hong. Thank you Ms.Tan for putting together a the Me to We team and i cant wait to start doing activities. Thank you Mr.Hong for taking all of us to We Day. In conclusion I think We day was a fun day to acknowledge diversity and accept diversity.

The harmony produced by all the instruments was astonishing. The atmosphere of the room matched the glorious music. Everyone was amazed. How could a single person create this remarkable piece.

That was the day of the field trip to Symphony Orchestra. Everyone had arrived early to school to make sure we wouldn’t be late for the train. Soon, we had left the school. We were chatting and excited while walking up to the station. We were like a bunch of little ants walking together to our food. We took the train and not long after we had arrived at Vancouver City Centre.

Mr. Fisher told us we would have 30 minutes to walk around and 30 minutes to eat. A group of my friends decided to go for a little walk around the mall. We didn't buy anything and so we decided to go and grab some food. We shared chatter and sushi around the table in the food court. It was fun having some time outside of school to catch up with friends. Though the lines were very long like a huge python. We had to wait for so long to get our food, but we still made it in time.

Afterwards, we had arrived at the symphony orchestra. The building was huge. It was a building like nothing I have seen before. The paintings were remarkably painted. The different colours were like a beautiful rainbow. The huge chandeliers lighted up like shinning stars in the night sky. I couldn't believe it.

Our teachers had pointed us to our siting area. We waited for a couple minutes for the orchestra. Finally, the show began. It was very special this year because the orchestra had been here for now 150 years. To celebrate they played the music that was a huge hit for them. From Beethoven to star wars, it was a marvelous show.

Sadly the show didn’t last long. We had to leave and go back home. It was still fun non the less, but I wished I could've stayed a bit longer. Going to that field trip wasn't a regret. It was more like a privilege to be there. A privilege that I was happy that I could have.

No. 1

We had to wait for so long to get our food, but we still made it in time.

This sentence is a bit boring. add more detail or remove it since you already made an explicit point when you said " Though the lines were very long like a huge python"

No. 2

Though the lines were very long like a huge python

This sentence is only a clause, it does not have a verb.

No. 3

The paintings were remarkably (painted)

Try to use another verb other than "painted". As you can see, If we removed that word (I put it in parenthesis) , the reader will still know it was painted, for it is a painting. Try using words like crafted, constructed, composed, designed...etc.

No. 4

i think the Orphuem is 91 years old. it was founded in 1927.

No. 5 you missed commas between "Sadly( )the show..."

otherwise, very colorful paragraph.

Field trip to the symphony

Bambam bam bam bam bam bambambam bam bam sounded the musical instruments playing the Star Wars theme song , it was like the most amazing thing I've ever heard

Field trip day! Mr. Fisher said. We all got ready to go to the orpheunm. Both classes got into the sky train. A few minutes later we got off on Vancouver city center, I remembered that I knew this place so well because I used to stay in a hotel in pacific center so I came here very often when I arrived to Vancouver. At the food court in the mall, I got my sandwich out of my bag and started eating and having a good time with my friends, then Mr. Hong said that it was time to go now so I grabbed my stuff and lined up for a head count, as we got out of the mall I felt the cold breeze through my face.

We got to to the orpheunm, I was extremely excited, it was my very first time in a concert. Once we were seated the orchestra started playing some classic music by people like Mozart and Bethoben which was very cool and then the announcer said something about Star Wars but I could really hear because there were a bunch of people talking. As the Star Wars theme song started playing it was already the best field trip I had ever been to.

As the train began to slide on the tracks, I quickly glanced at figure. Suddenly, I thought it was Mr. Hong, but soon realized I was wrong, as relief flowed through my body.

The train ride was smooth, reaching our destination quicker than I thought. We stepped out of the train, for me, it was like entering a whole new world, for I had never visited downtown often. We entered a mall, then discussing the criteria we had made. There was not much people, for it was a weekday. However, it felt like a visit to the mall on a weekend. We ate lunch in the food court and then ventured out to the city. The fresh air blew on my nose and delivered energy into my body.

Once we were in the Orpheum theatre, it was pure voluptuous. The carpets flowed along the path like a river, leading us to the main theater. I was shocked. The chandelier was the sun, which hanged above the heads of many spectators. It shone dimly, though bright enough to see the stage.

Once the conductor began waving his arm, signaling the orchestra, sounds boomed out of the instruments, blasting though the air reaching for ears of children and adults. The song varieties stretched from modern music such as Star Wars to opera. Although there seemed not enough instruments for the colossal room, the music managed to pursue everyone into its beat.

The show was finally over. Everyone was applauding with enthusiasm. The building unleashed hordes of students, each skipping to the beat of the music, still inscribed deeply in their memories.

@Vincent

Try to rephrase you're first paragraph a little bit. I don't understand how you feel relief after you found out that the person was not Mr.Hong. I think you meant differently, but that paragraph was a little bit offending.

Otherwise, good job on your descriptive writing.

As the train began to slide on the tracks, I quickly glanced at figure. Suddenly, I thought it was Mr. Hong. My friends began chatter and debating whether it was Mr. Hong. I went to search for an answer to break the debate, but I did not find him. I reported the news, then, my friends came up with these crazy, impossible hypothesis. When we got off the train, the first figure that I encountered was Mr. Hong. My friends sighed in relive, knowing that it was all a hoax.

Symphony

Amazing music bouncing off the walls. Old magical looking pantings on the ceiling.

Today was a filed trip to the symphony. My class mates and I got our things and walked to the sky train. We went to the mall before we went to the symphony.

At the mall we separated into groups and looked around the mall. I was in a group with Serin, Taya and Kheyria. We looked around the mall and decided to go to lush. When we were at lush and when we were their Serin put a sparkly bar of soap in my hand, it made my hand glittery and it looked like a smacked tinker bell. We went to lunch and then went to the symphony.

At the symphony we took our seats and we were early so we looked around the symphony. On the ceiling there were amazing paintings. Old and amazing looking paintings, it was what I would amazing what looking at an old Italian painting. Their were kids from a lot of eliminatory schools around bc. All the kids their had glowing smiles from ear to ear. Some of the kids looked dumbstruck with amazement. When they musicians started playing the sound was incredible. The music was familiar it reminded me of my and reminded me of my grandparents because they always have the songs like the ones they played at their house. The music was amazing and it is an experience I will never forget.

No. 1 Try not to use "today" in a reported writing. use "the date (11/17/2018)" instead.

No.2 When we were at lush and when we were their Serin put a sparkly bar of soap in my hand, it made my hand glittery and it looked like a smacked tinker bell

This sentence is a run-on, try using periods, insert subordinate conjunction, correlative conjunctions or semi-colons.

Also, use there, NOT their and capitalize Lush.

No. 3

Amazing music bouncing off the walls. Old magical looking paintings on the ceiling.

This sentence is your topic sentence because it is your last sentence in the introduction. The rest of your paragraph does not relate to this sentence. try considering making another sentence..

Furthermore, i feel like these sentences are only here to complete the criteria, try to merge them in with your paragraphs.

No.4

On the ceiling there were amazing paintings. (Old and amazing looking paintings, it was what I would amazing what looking at an old Italian painting.)

The second sentence (the one in parenthesis) can be more concise, then add into the first. Otherwise, just it can be removed

No.5

Some of the kids looked dumbstruck with amazement.

Put this sentence after " When they musicians started playing the sound was incredible."

3...2...1...GO! The hostsman yelled. Immediately, we were greeted by an ear-splitting sound. It was as loud as a stampede of bulls, marching through a parade of screeching birds.

On Thursday, November 22nd me (and 17?) other people went to We Day. The worst part was that I had to be at school before 7:45, and so I tried to wake up at 5. Instead I woke up at 3, so that was great. Anyways, while we were walking to the skytrain station I thought "Wow, in just 6 hours I'll be walking back and know exactly what the place will look like and what happens." Although, it decided to rain on us the day We Day happened. It was like there was a rain cloud just waiting to let go on the day that it was happening. It was quite uncomfortable walking in wet socks.

Once we got at Rogers Arena we were seated. I was grateful I got to go there, but I think we got the worst seats. Especially me, I sat at the direct lowest and furthest away from the stadium. I couldn't see it, and had trouble seeing the TV at top. The good part though was we could see all the amazing effects and stuff that was happening in the middle.

Many celebrities came out and I knew exactly one (Which is kind of sad haha). The first performance was this cool dude who was I guess "singing" with us, and engaging the audience. Many inspirational people were there, and it was quite heart-moving.

There was so many jaw-dropping lights and effects it was great. We were given these wristbands that could light up, but only when the people at WE turned them on via electricity and such. One of the presentations was by the amazing Shawn Hook, and he sang "Sound of Your Heart". Immediately, people were cheering and screaming. The song was amazing, and during one part our wristbands started lighting up, and purple smoke started coming out. Only a bit though. It was amazing, and I loved every second of it.

Everything else there was amazing and such, but there was one thing that I didn't quite expect. There was something called "Wheel to We", where there was a "wheel" (it wasn't a wheel "shape") and it landed on the category "Noise Meter". I had some suspicions on what it might've been, and some were close, but basically it was seeing if we could break the Noise Meter. So that meant yelling at the top of our lungs, trying to break it. He counted, 3...2...1... Everyone was yelling, and I could feel it, all the way down my spine. And, surprise surprise we broke it! I didn't really "scream" or make any noise at all, but it was still cool.

Finally, the all the members had talked, and there was rainbow confetti that pumped in to the sky. It was the end of We Day, and it was also the last We Day of 2018. I really enjoyed it there, even with the bad seats, the loud noises, and the food. I would definitely go again, but I doubt I will. So many amazing people went, and it was 100% one of the best highlights of 2018.

E: Ecosystem field trip

The bright, hot and unrelenting sun rested upon my face as I walked. It felt good at first, to walk and get back into the natural world. However the sun was torturous and unforgiving after a few hours.

When we started the trip it felt wonderful, I haven't had the time to walk and witness nature like this before. Everything was beautiful and no one was really aware of the fact that Mr. Fisher warned us that he wanted us to walk at least more than 10 Km.

That changed very soon. It was really chaotic at first, everyone getting into the sky train and everyone arriving at the destination without getting lost but later on everything as much less chaotic. Once we walked and arrived at Stanley Park everything was beautiful, the smell of luscious plant life, the constant sound of waves crashing against the shores and the gusts of wind blowing against me face. But it was like a trap, alluring you to your death.

Obviously this was an over exaggeration. At first as I have said before everything was near perfect, the view and the "scent" of nature except after a while of walking non-stop in the bright daylight heat of the sun it soon became torturous for both classes. On our way back I heard more and more complaints and whining and yes I unfortunately was a part of it.

However when we got back to school even though everyone was exhausted they were happy with the photos they have collected for their ecosystem slideshow/project. I looked at my fitness tracker at the end of the day, it read 14 km! tiring but no regrets there!

I sat down on my seat, the loud clatter formed a song, only to be overflowed by laughter. I sit like I have been glued to my seat. i'm still bored out of my mind. i lean on my hand to hear the crowd giggle. my vision fades and i drift of to sleep. "aaaaaaoooooaaa shi co an da" I jump as a woman in a long purple dress and black hair is singing. the sound continues. i couldn't control myself and broke into laughter. and more sleep. the rest was a blur but a comfortable one because spending time with a jacket as a blanket and a seat as a pillow and a bed is a great way to make up for the sleep you missed

The sound of glorious opera music rang through my ears. The voice of the opera tenant pierced the air with incredibly high pitched tones. The quiet yet rich, deep tone of the solo harps swirled in the air, adding a perfect trimming for the deep rich melody.

Believe it or not, these precious musical sounds came from an orchestra. And I have the privilege you see them live at the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. To start it of, I can't stress on what an exciting experience to see my very first orchestra performance. You have to be there, in order to feel the vibes. The music itself radiated emotions that no video could capture.

This event happened roughly about a few weeks ago.

Firstly, we left our school and boarded a sky train that led us into the heart of downtown. I was amazed at the difference between downtown Vancouver, and the suburbs of Vancouver. There were hardly any trees or grass. In fact, other than the occasional small scrubby gnarled trees, nothing really was green.

After that, we went to the mall, where we casually strolled around, window shopping, sighing at things that we wanted to buy, but couldn't. As they say, you are in a lot of trouble when there are more than five zeroes after one.

Lastly, the smell of delicious curry and other fried aromas filled the air and wafted through our noses. Our tummies rumbled in protest and we were led by our noses to the food court where we gorged on burgers, fries, milkshakes, and any other types of food that our parents didn't allow. We feasted like frenzy, knowing that this would be maybe the only time when nothing in our plate was green.

The orchestra had grand instruments. I saw violins, trumpets, French horns, tubas, a grand piano, and even a harp that was twice as tall as me. The brass section was polished so clear that is like a mirror. The woodwind section made clear piping noises in which each note rang like a bell.

To be honest, the trip to the orchestra taught me a lot. This was one of the few times when I bought whatever I want by myself. I am not too big of a fan of music and fine arts, but the trip to the orchestra made me appreciate music for that day. It left me a good memory that when I look back, I smile in contentment.

No.1

The sound of glorious opera music rang through my ears. The voice of the opera tenant pierced the air with incredibly high pitched tones.

I these sentences, you used "opera" two times. Try to "eradicate" one of them.

No.2

check for typos

No.3

This event happened roughly about a few weeks ago.

try to say this explicitly instead of implicitly.

no.4

Lastly, the smell of delicious curry and other fried aromas filled the air and wafted through our noses. Our tummies rumbled in protest and we were led by our noses to the food court where we gorged on burgers, fries, milkshakes, and any other types of food that our parents didn't allow. We feasted like frenzy, knowing that this would be maybe the only time when nothing in our plate was green.

Use lastly on the next paragraph because you have one more paragraphs until your conclusion.

WE day
Time ticked like a bomb about to go off. It was an astonishment that my anticipation didn't devour myself. The classroom was like a desert, abounded and unpopulated. When WE day participants left the classroom everything still continued on. You might ask yourself " why would someone who didn't go to WE day, write a paragraph about it?" Well I'm going to put you into the perspective into someone one who didn't go.

It was an average, suburban Thursday and I expected it to be inhabited by a peaceful, calm atmosphere and I was right. Most of the participants that went to WE day came from our class. As the day went on, my suspicion rose too, from being a humble thought. The classroom see unpopulated and soulless like an uncharted town. The place somewhat lacked the obnoxious, enthusiastic personality that I've grown so accustom to. It was a bewildering thought that stained my thought. I was wondering constantly if we could do something fun so we could brag our own event, but we didn't. It was just an average day. Time went by sluggish and was deliberate. It was a ticking bomb. I didn't want it off nor stay like it. The rest of the day went on maintaining the same dull tone. In my head the only thing that would be sustaining in my immediate thinking was how much fun were people having at WE day as there was a bitter taste in my mouth. Finally the day was over and that was when I started encountering WE day participants walking in and out. The experience has given me a new experience on exclusion which I hope will be never apart of again, but I can't foresee the future.

Wow Matthew! Your paragraphs are really descriptive and ful of detail, but you do have some simple mistakes.Maybe write what sort of energy the participants from we day gave when you met them after school?

I gasped in disbelief as the musicians played Symphony No.5. My body felt really light as if it was filled with helium. I knew that this was going to be the best field trip I ever had.

One day, Division 1 and 2 went on a field trip to the Orpheum Theatre. We went on the Skytrain at Langara 49th and got off at Yaletown-Roundhouse. When we arrived, we had lots of time before the show. Mr. Fisher and Mr. Hong allowed us to go window shopping at the Pacific Centre mall for 20 minutes. I looked at the different shops but got bored quickly so I decided to go to the food court to eat my lunch. My mom gave me 10 dollars to buy a drink or dessert, so I ate my lunch quickly and set off to buy myself a dessert. As my eyes scanned through the food court, I found the stall I was looking for, DQ. Dairy queen had a nice selection of drinks and desserts. I ordered a small hot cocoa Oreo blizzard and soon found myself licking the ice cream off of the spoon.

After I ordered the blizzard, it was time for the classes to walk to the Orpheum theatre. I ate it along the way and felt rushed at the end as we neared the theatre. I threw the empty container away in the garbage can and ran to catch up with my class. We entered the building and entered this huge room filled with countless seats in countless rows. My jaw dropped as I neared my seat. I have never seen an orchestra in real life, nor have I heard a symphony in real life. I was amazed by the hundreds of people who gathered to watch this show.

My heart skipped many beats as the performers played Symphony No.5 by Beethoven. The music came to me like a missile and hit my ears like a light breeze. I personally enjoy classical music and this song was one of my favorites. The most astonishing part was that Beethoven was deaf when he wrote this song. I could not possibly write a song even half as good as that even when I can hear very well. When someone is deaf, they can't hear. So how could Beethoven possibly write this crazy symphony without hearing anything? This song is so popular among the classical music world people may start forgetting that Beethoven could not hear a single note!

This was a field trip I could not forget so easily. The songs I love that I heard from YouTube were actually playing in real life in front of me! I will treasure this field trip like a million dollars and I thank those who helped make this field trip happen.

this sentence is written in third person omission. however, the other parts are written in first person. either choose third omision or first (but since its a personal wrtting, use first).

No. 3

When someone is deaf, they can't hear.

1. its self explanatory that when someone is deaf, they cant hear.

The crowd roared with excitement. The stadium was filled with colourful lights everywhere. I could even feel the vibrations of the music bounce off of me. I felt pure joy at that moment.

It was November 22, WE day. I got out of bed and got ready. I couldn’t wait to arrive at school. Everyone who was going had to be at school by 7:45. I packed up and finished what I had to do. Then I headed to school. We had a short meeting before heading out to the sky train. We walked to the station. The first train stopped by but we didn’t get on. There was so many people on the train, it was basically almost full. I had totally forgotten that it was early in the morning and that a lot of people would be taking the train to get to work.

It was finally the time when the second train arrived. It was packed. In fact, I think it was worse than the first one. But we got on. Everyone had to squeeze themselves in. Being honest, I actually thought that we wouldn’t all be able to get on. Luckily, we were all able to get on. But it was very cramped in there. It was quite hot. In fact, it was as hot as the temperature of this summer! I felt uncomfortable being trapped in between all of my classmates. At last, we were able to get out. I felt so much better getting more space and air.

After a short walk we made it to Rogers Arena. Excitement filled up in me. We quickly got our bracelets and headed to our seats. There was a lot of people. It started. Energy filled the stadium. Celebrities came and one YouTuber came as well. Justin Trudeau’s mother and wife came, Shawn Hook, Lights, Anna Cathcart, Keshia Chanté, LaurDiy and so many others! It was amazing. They sang, and gave speeches. Everyone was singing along. The crowd was jumping and turning on their flashlights on their phones, waving it around. When LaurDiy came up people started going over to the front of the stage. Personally, my favourite part was when Lights was singing and everyone’s bracelets were lighting up in sync. I had such a fun time. It was definitely a fun experience.

Warm and gentle, the sun drifted above us in a bed of clouds. Not too bright, yet bright enough. Getting on the SkyTrain, no one could contain their excitement at the very first field trip of the school year. No one could wait to start walking and photographing on our trip to Stanley Park.

It was but three hours and seven kilometers later. Despite the wind, the sun felt torturous on our backs, shining so brightly it almost blinded us. Our feet dragged on the soggy ground, anxious to get to the beach. Just a few hours later, we had impatiently waited to get to where we were. How had so much changed?

In case you hadn't realized, this was the very first field trip of the year - a 14+ kilometer walk to and from Stanley Park. We were here to document ecosystems, and that we did. But it was so much more than just that.

This journey started from a rather ordinary place. The school. Our school, Sir Wilfrid Laurier Elementary. From there, we took a short walk to the nearby SkyTrain station. Getting off at the terminal station, everyone was excited and energized for the trip ahead.

But you cannot simply go on the SkyTrain and take one to Stanley Park. So we took the next best way to get there. We walked. Twisting and turning through the streets of Downtown Vancouver, I was surprised to see the amazing variety of plants and animals in the city. Walking normally through Downtown, you rarely have a chance to appreciate the luscious greenery like we did that Friday morning.

However, this was not our main destination. Everyone was caught up taking pictures of seagulls landing on the beaches and the colorful autumn trees, but we were not even at Stanley Park yet.

There was no entrance to Stanley Park. But you could feel it - it looked like the wilderness, an undisturbed part of nature defying mankind's towering steel buildings. Needless to say, there was much more wildlife and plants here then in the bustling city. For a while, it was just pictures after pictures. Then, the sound level dropped. You could hear the wind rustling in the trees, the smell of the salty ocean water and the sun reflecting off the waves. This was nature at it's finest.

Even Nature cannot distract from fatigue, though. We had walked over eight miles already, and reasoned with ourselves as humans do - "we already saw everything, can we just eat lunch? I'm tired." Shamefully, I was probably the first people to start complaining.

Even though it was tiring, after we had rested, the way back was even more amazing. We had already taken enough pictures for a lifetime or so it seemed, so we just enjoyed the scenery.

Indeed, it was tiring. But who would give up the chance to walk in undisturbed wilderness? And that is why the very first field trip of the school year will forever remain in my memory as one of the best field trips I have gone on.

-Joseph (sorry for long writing, and for any mistakes - wrote this while half asleep! :P)

Field Trip to the Symphony:

The scenery is quite something to take in, the fancy greek archetecture, the large chandelier hanging over my head as I stare at its incredible detail, waiting for it to fall on me. But it didn't.

Musicians started appearing on the domed stage and taking their seats in different sectors. Finally, the conductor appeared on stage and soon commenced their first song.
It was beautiful, the way the classical instruments, such as violins and bases, were able to conjur enough magic to make me fall in love with their uncommon sound. It put me in a trance as I watched the conductor move his instructing stick (I don't know what else to call it) up and about, moving this way and that without a single warning. It was at that specific moment that I knew I had to give the orchestra my FULL attention, or my soul would not experience this sort of peace again.

We were in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Vancouver as we boarded the sky train - we as in divisions 1 and 2 alonside their teachers Mr.Fisher and Mr.Hong - and we were ready to spend our money at the mall like it was Black Friday. Of course, we wouldn't be given such a privelage without ground rules from our teachers since we weren't being watched like hawks. Because of this, we were allowed to spend $10 or less on something other than food becuse we were buying lunch from the food court at the Pacific Centre Mall in Down Town Vancouver.

As we made our way pass other pedestrians, students from different social groups began talking about what they might buy, how much they were willing to spend, and how much money they had brought.

I know right? We're in public, speaking out loud about how much money we have and what we would spend it on. How ridiculous! No one is stopping anyone from stealing that $80 dollars you planned to spend on bath bombs! But I guess they had a reason to be excited. They probably don't usually spend money on themselves that often now that you think of it. The money children would spend belongs to their parents, since they don't have a proper job in society to earn their own money, so to them it must be a once-in-your-childhood chance to be resposible with money they can call their own. With supervision, of course.

After lunch, we had to make our way through more fellow pedestrians of Vancouver to get to the Orpheum where we would be able to enjoy a source of entertainment we all know as MUSIC.
When we got there, we were actually quite early, so no one had even appeared on the stage where they would give their amazing performances.

5 minutes passed, then 15 minutes, and we began to wonder when the symphony was supposed to start. The show was meant to start at around 12:00am, we got there at like 11:30, and it was 11:38am by the time we all began checking our phones.

(I will put the rest of my alphabiography in my one note folder because it's really late:)

We day

On Thursday nov.22 I went to we day with some of my fellow classmates. We had a random draw to decide who was going to go on this trip. Lucky my friends and I got in! I feel kind of good and bad at the same time because I see some of my classmates get cut but I'm very excited to go to we day. The only tough thing was that we had to be at school by 7:45 so I had to wake up at around 7.

As we started walking up to Langara to catch the skytrain it started to rain. Lucky it was very light so we didn’t need umbrella yet. As everything was going fine we get that the skytrain was jam packed with other people. This is the most people I've ever seen on a skytrain before. As we finally squished our way onto the skytrain everyone was crammed and had little to no space ot move at all. It was basically like being squished from all places. Even though it wasn’t many stations that felt like it was the longest train ride I've ever been on.

Ughhhhhh finally some fresh air!!! As we left the skytrain it was a huge relief as we were no longer cramped up in a tiny space. As we walked up the stairs there were tons and tons of huge buildings many decorations and I didn’t really know how to react. I've never seen like so many buildings around since I don’t go to Yale town round house very often. We kept on walking to rogers arena and as we got closer we started to see different schools.

I got really anxious walking with so many other classes that I didn’t know before and it was afraid that I would get lost. So my best bet was to hold on to someone's backpack and follow where every they go. If they get lost I get lost too (:. At least I k now that if I do get lost I would know someone that Is there with me. Luckily everyone arrived safely to rogers arena without getting lost. we lined up in pairs and got the tickets that we needed to go in. When we got in we were handed these light up bracelets that you wear and will light up at certain times.

As we stepped into rogers arena we could already feel the energy that was about to explode. There were so many schools there that I had trouble trying to follow the group. We stepped into the arena and I was immediately shocked by how cool the lights, designs etc... unfortunately we didn’t have the best seats as we were on the side seats. However what made that seat so special was that we could see some parts of the backstage and we could get really close to the celebrities that were coming.

We started off we day like a BANG and started to sing songs to get the energy in the crowd going. It was probably the loudest place I've been in a long time. You could just feel the energy going around as everyone was basically screaming. My favourite part from we day was probably the first 30 minutes as we just sang random songs and the crowd was the most energetic. Throughout the show there were many celebrities including Sonreal, Shaun Hook and lights just to name a few. But the ones that stood out to me the most were the Sedin twins.

It was really cool to see the Sedin twins because I'm a huge fan of the Vancouver Canucks and never in a million years would I think that I would actually meet them in real life. They went up and gave a speech about anti bullying. As they started their careers the Sedins didn't play physical nor rough on other players so everyone doubted them, but the Sedins proved them wrong. They played an outstanding career even though they went physical like the other guys in the NHL.

We ended off we day with lights singing a couple of songs and confetti raining down. Overall I think that we day was really fun and would surely like to go again, but im not sure if I would even go in next year. We walked back to Laurier drenched in water as it was pouring like crazy outside, but was saved as many of us has umbrellas that we packed earlier.

In conclusion I think that we day was a really fun experience that ill probably never experience in a long time and I would definitely recommend you to go to we day. Even if you don’t like it, it would still be a great experience for you to feel the excitement an energy.

opora
LAAA! LAA! LAAA! LA LA LA ( is she trying to make me go deff or something.)

We first started at the school. then went to Langara 49 ( we could also gone to Water Front) we got to the food court and all I bought was a cup of lemon jucie. then we went to the opara house and watched people playing instruments.

the one that was super memorable was the lady that sang like mad she also sounded like a recorder when you blow hard (sry if offeded) and that eybrow movement. oh god that was so cringey. The only other memorable peice was the star wars theme. it sound just like the opening of the star wars movies. I felt like I was in the movie like V.R. And then we just went back to class and did some observations.

As I recorded a video on my phone the others were yelling, jumping and singing their heart out as the DJ was playing a song. Everyone went wild when he dropped the beat.

It was a early Thursday morning, I woke up from my dream at 5:00am because I was too excited for WEday. A friend had also been awake at the time, so we decided to wake other people up. We woke up 3 other people who was going to we day as well. I was on my bed just texting as the time had passed until it hit 6:30am, that's when I got ready for the day.

I got ready and my mom drove me to school, it was so dark still. So I went in the school and met with the other members who was going in Mr.Hong's classroom. A lot of people were already there, so we talked for a bit until everyone came. We checked out names and and everyone was here. We head outside and started walking to the Langara sky train station. It was very packed and we had to wait a couple times until we could all get in the sky rain. It was very hit in their train because everyone had to get to work or school on time.

We finally got off the sky train and we walked all the way to the Rogers arena, where they will be hosting the 2018 WEday in Vancouver. We head counted a couple times and got tickets to go inside. We also got light up bracelets where we didn't get to keep at the end. We sat down and WEday begin! We were singing, jumping and yelling as they played some of the most famous songs. It was more like a concert then a WEday to be honest. There were celebrities and my favorite was Shawn Hook because we all knew the song and it was just fun. We sat there for around 4hours but it was fun and worth it. I'm surprised the stadium didn't fall apart because there were 22,000 Me to We members inside yelling and jumping.

At the end of the day when we were about to go home, it started raining. Which wasn't the best thing that could happen. But we brought umbrellas though, that's a good thing. At the end of the day I think WEday is very fun and I was lucky enough to get a ticket to go at last minute. I hope more people and feel this kind of happiness helping their community!

Orchestra:

It smelled amazing, I had waited all day for this. Mr. Fisher and Mr. Hongs class were going to the orchestra for a field trip. We were taking the Skytrain to City Centre to go to Pacific Centre Mall. My stomach was grumbling for food so I couldn’t wait to eat. When I got to the food court with a some of my friends, we ate food. I got my classic at A&W which was the Double Teen, Poutine and Drink. It smelled amazing, I had waited all day for this. Later I got an OREO Hot Cocoa blizzard at Dairy Queen but Max and Logan copied me and both got the exact same thing.

After everyone ate lunch we headed to the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. I was seated with Vincent and Logan. Logan hated the music so much that he fell asleep. My favourite part was the opera singer who sung so loud that my ears were ringing at the end of it. At that point I was just thinking "when is this over"! That music was like using a large megaphone at my face even though some of it had no microphone. I had a really fun day at the Orchestra and would like to come back soon.

Field trip to the Symphony.

When we walked up to the sky train station i wondered, what will we hear at the symphony, what will I buy at Pacific Centre mall? We walked, and walked and I started to feel my legs start to throb.

When we reached Pacific Centre I was dying for food, but me and my friends decided to walk around for a bit before we would eat. After when we got to the food court I got a poutine and a drink, after we ate me and Sarah decided to buy and share a large oreo blizzard from DQ. It did not go well, but we finished in less than 6 minutes!

When we arrived at the Orpheum theatre we sat down and waited for the orchestra to start, it was so exciting!! When the orchestra started the music was beautiful. It was like the music was floating in the air. We heard a lot of music pieces that we were familiar to and enjoyed it very much.
Truth to be told, I fell a sleep for a little while when the music was playing.....

Symphony

Excitement was real in this field trip. Everyone was hyped about it. We had to leave at 9:00, and walk to the sky train station in Langara. Everyone needed a partner. We went through the parking lot in Churchill, and while I was walking through there, Mr. Fisher gave me a chestnut.

I started peeling the chestnut, and everyone was like what are you doing. The station is just right in front of our eyes, we crossed the last road, and got there. All of the students in division 1 were called to line up beside your partner, and so as Mr. Hong. “If you don’t have a compass card then go first, so we went down the stairs, to the ticket machine, I was the last one, “The train is coming” some people said, I was rushing, so I couldn’t get the $5 bill to the right side, I got out my $10 bill and I got it on the right side and it worked.

We got on the skytrain and there was nothing special. We were inside the mall, and we bought some food, but before that I had to go to the bathroom for a very long time, after a very long time we went around the mall, we bought some food at ANW. We got our food and we sat on a table. I finished my burger. Adrian let me have some fries, but he kind of regret it, only if I didn’t eat it all. We walked to the orpheum, as we were walking we passed this homeless guy, playing the guitar, Adrian and I through in some coins. We got to the orpheum and we got in our seat, then we wait for about 10 minutes. It started, they played a lot of famous songs, so many I can’t even remember. We went back after that and had a normal day.

As I walk through the chill breeze. I have come to realize that Vancouver is gorgeous. We people are so much caught up in the hustle of other things that we often neglect to taste and appreciate the magnificent view right in front of us.

Our first field trip of the year was to take a walk around Stanley Park, and snapshot pictures of the different ecosystems. It had been raining the whole week, but we got lucky. It was a glorious sunny day. With compass cards and lunches, we headed to our destination. We took a short ride on the Skytrain to downtown and then started our walk. Fourteen kilometers. As we were getting closer to Stanley Park, we began to take more photos and try our best to document our observations and discoveries of the ecosystems on our way. The sun shone on us with warmth. The water along the trail was sparkling in the sunlight. We were exposed to the beauty of nature.

As we kept walking, we greedily breathed the most fresh air. Different creatures started to enter our view and we became more excited. For a while, as if the world stopped, only the noises of kids’ chatting and cameras’ clicks stood out. The background in which we were was so quiet. We could easily hear birds chirping and pay attention to the sweet aroma of the trees and other plants. The great satisfaction and joy miraclely filled me right away.

Around lunchtime, we took a rest and had lunch at the beach. As I bit into my sandwich I could smell the salty fragrance of the sea. It tasted like a “real sandwich”. Then we started on our way back. By then, everyone was tired. We forgot all about the pictures, our goal was to get back to school. It was a short way back, but even now, I still think of all the sights I captured during the trip.

Some Vancourians like to go sightseeing in other places, but Vancouver is worth your time to experience with distinctiveness every day! I now have a new goal in life. To spy something beautiful round me and beyond every day.

Ecosystems Field Trip

On November eleventh, this year my class and I went on a field trip to Stanley park. This field trip was specifically for learning about ecosystems.

Around nine thirty we left for the field trip and headed to the forty ninth station. We took the train to Waterfront and walked towards Lost Lagoon. As I came about the Lagoon I was very excited. We approached the lagoon and we saw blue herons, geese, ducks, wood shavings left over from beavers, different habitats and ecosystems, biotic and abiotic elements, individual organisms, population and communities among other things.

We finished walking around the lagoon and once we finished we ate lunch. My lunch tasted amazing after all the walking. My legs were on fire. We were also assigned to take pictures of the ecosystems and the organisms for a photo assay about ecosystems.

We walked back and the walk felt even longer. As we walked back we took many breaks but we made back to the station. We took the train back and we just made it to our school early by three minutes.

On the field trip I saw many organisms and I hope to take my family to the lost lagoon to show them more about the world they live in.
