1. Casinos. Gambling because when you gamble there is a chance you can loose
2. The weather because you ave to predict the weather so there is a chance of the weather changing
3. Rolling a dice

1. Safety. Sometimes being safe cannot be 100% accurate, like the Titanic. The give you a likely and less likely to let you know what's the least to expect; how to prepare for.

2. Sports. Many spectators puts down bets on which team, player, race horse, etc. would win. Or to help the player know what he/she's good at and should play in what rank or position. Looking at their records from before. Can be use for clickbait????

3. Economical reasons. There's many topics...For example some company wants to build a house somewhere, then they know whether the soil will sink or is the area accessible to food markets, schools, etc. The space it needs to be built. Something suddenly might happen, but at least they get heads up of whats likely going to happen. (Maybe I'm wrong)

Adding to numbers 1 & 3, also looking at what has happened in the local area before, or things surrounding it that might take effect.

Probability, noun.
-the quality or fact of being probable

Probability is a an important concept and is used throughout the world. It basically represents the chance of an event happening. Since that wasn't very clear, I'll give you a couple examples to help you understand,

The first example is one that we see almost everyday, on the news.
"Friday will have a 60% chance of precipitation, while on Saturday, that percentage will lower to 20%."
That's right, probability is a major part of a meteorologists' job. They

Emily

predict the chance of a certain weather occurring on any day.

Another one is stocks (I think). I'm no expert on this at all, so I'm probably going to sound like an idiot...
Stocks in the market go up and down, sometimes for no particular reason. When investing, people want to predict how well a certain one is going to do, the probability of it doing well or going up.

My final example is arcade games. Yes, just like the ones we played on our field trip to Granville Island. The ones that are pretty much rigged so that you keep spending money. You have to think about the probability that the ball will fall into the slot labeled "JACKPOT" or you scoring 5 times in a row. Chances are, they're pretty low.

Probability is an important concept and is used in throughout the world. Here are some examples:

1.) Weather
There isn't really a set outcome for weather, since nature is always changing and there are different climates and other human operated things that could change the outcome of weather, which is why it's a form of probability. On the radio, the meteorologists always say things like ,"there's a 50% chance of rain". That is just an estimate or guess, since they don't know exactly what forecast there will be.
2.) Playing cards/magic tricks
When you draw a card from a deck, there are a lot of outcomes for what card and pattern you may get, making it a form of probability. There is a 50% chance you could draw a black card, there is a 25% chance you could draw a card with a spade, etc. There are so many outcomes, you don't really know what you could get.
3.) Toy dispensing machines you find in malls
This is an example of probability because you don't know which toy you may get, since they are all supposed to be "surprises". If there are 6 different types of dinosaur action figures, there is a 1/6 chance you could get the one riding the bicycle. Since you don't know which dinosaur you may get, it creates 6 possible outcomes, and you will only know which one you get after you open it.

-Weather
if you were a weather forecast station you need to know your stuff. But the weather is not always predictable so you need to set a reasonable percent chance of that weather.
- Doctor
Say your treating a patient and they gave a deadly virus. You need to know when there time is and the percent of them passing away.
- Selling
In this you need to know the probability of you gaining money. If you know the competition you need to use that as your advantage and build your probability of making more money.

Weather:
As everyone knows, weather has a lot to do with probability. "...With a 69% chance of showers" You've heard this before I'm sure. They almost never say 100% percent in the off chance they mess up and it doesn't rain. There is no guarantee on what the weather will be like, but we make our choices on clothes based how likely or unlikely something will happen.

Sports Pools:
I'm going to use hockey pools as an example as those are the ones that I'm most familiar with. At the start of a new season, people will choose a player from certain categories based on what pros predict on how their seasons will go. People will analyze players and base them off their previous seasons. Also how likely certain players will get hurt.

Casinos:
Gambling is basically the first thing you think of for probability in the real world. Rolling dice, placing bets, need I say more?

Probability is an important concept and is used throughout the world.

Probability is the likelihood of something occurring or happening and is used in many different situations. Some of those being gambling, sports and insurance.
When your gambling it may seem like luck, but actually there's a way to determine the probability of you winning or losing. For example a dice game. There are always a certain amount of sides on a dice, so you can calculate the chance of getting what you want with a dice roll which can help you gain an advantage over the other gamblers.
You may be surprised but probability is a big part of sports. In certain team sports such as baseball, the coach makes sure that people with high batting averages are placed on the team so that the team has a higher probability of winning a game.
When you choose an insurance plan you will probably use probability a lot. For example life insurance. If your city has high murder rates and the probability of you getting killed is extremely high, then you should chose the plan that considers that probability. Instead of going for the plan that doesn't.

1) Weather
People can say that there's going to be a 99.9% chance of a storm store but that 0.1% can be the probability it has a small chance but might happen.
2)Casino
Gambling. Your wasting your money for a chance to win something.
3)Arcade machines.
You can win some stuffies and lose a lot of money.

Probability is an important concept and is used throughout the world.
In short, probability is how likely or unlikely an event will occur. Divided into two categories, theoretical and experimental, it helps us predict what will happen, in different forms such as percentage or fractions. Here are some examples of practical uses for probability.
The first one on our list is weather. Now, with modern systems to help us find the current weather, we can very accurately predict today and tomorrow. For example, if a storm is headed towards your town, there is a very likely chance that there will be rain tomorrow. Through this, we can weigh our opinions, and make decisions on activities, clothing, and more. These chances are often recorded in the form of percentage, such as a 90% chance of rain, or 30% of snow, and so on. Here's an example. We can use probability to accurately plan out tomorrow. Since it's almost summer, we can assume, from evidence, it's extremely likely that it won't snow tomorrow. So is it time to break out the old winter jacket? No.
The second example we have is transport. We live in a big city, with many roads being used a lot daily, to get us and others from here to there. We can use probability in this case, and like the weather, we can use it to plan ahead well. Main roads are congested and overused. From there, you can plan ahead. You know that these roads have a higher probability of crashes, and traffic jams, or worse. That way, you can plan ahead, by finding a different route to or from work or school. We all want a smooth commute, and planning ahead will only make it more likely.
The last one is health. Frankly, I could name a lot of things that are bad for you in the long run, but I won't. Substances like tobacco and alcohol are scientifically proven to cause horrendous damage to you. That's why the majority of people avoid the two - it's because studies show people who use these two substances have a higher chance of obtaining diseases and illnesses. We can use probability here to predict a darker subject for humanity, such as disease or death. That's why many of us choose not use either or both. The probability of you attaining diseases like cancer get higher with the consumption of these two. That's why we stay away from them.

Probability is an important concept and is used in throughout the world.

1. Weather
Weather is very unexpected. It's something us humans cannot change most of the time. Most weather reporters talk about the weather and when they do they you usually talk about it with chances. For example they would say they is a 24% chance of cloudy skies. Like Kaya said, weather people never say there is a 100% chance of a kind of weather because there's always a possibility they will be wrong especially from the fact that they are using data to figure out the following days' weather and you never know. The weather always makes unexpected turns.

2. Claw machines
With claw machines, they're rigged, obviously. But as time goes on the probability of you getting an item gets higher an higher. At the start, your chance is probably really low, like maybe 10%, maybe 20%. As time goes on, the machine collects more money. The more money it gets. As the machine starts to make profit the claw gets stronger. When the claw gets stronger your probability of getting an item is higher. At that point the probability could be something like 80%.

3. Rock Paper Scissor Tournaments (look them up they're a thing)
In these "intense" battles it's a 1v1 battle of rock paper scissors. The probability of one player beating the other player is 3/9 there being 9 possible outcomes and only 3 of them ending in the you winning. In this event the probability does not change over time.

Matt
6/7/2018 09:11:55 pm

Does the rate of winning in the claw machine ever go down again after it gets this high?

MAtt

Probability is used in everyday life making it important and extremely useful. Probability is the possible outcomes.
For example, the weather all decides on possibility, like the sun has a 60% chance of coming out and so on. The weather isn't accurate, not even close, but we can use it to estimate and schedule the next and following days according to it. We also use possibility when we gamble at the casinos or racing events. Other people might not think this is as useful as the weather, but I think people have fun with it, and with the stakes of losing money, it becomes more fun. Even when we type, the computer or phone, runs a possibility check and tries to auto-correct it. It usually is wrong, so that makes the possibility lower like 10% correct every time.

Veer
6/7/2018 09:35:30 pm

I love the auto correct example (who would have thought of that) :):}:]

Veer
6/7/2018 09:33:18 pm

I'm not completely sure how to do this )
1...
The probability of me rolling a dice and getting 6 six is

2...
Have you ever gotten chocolate form anywhere like Halloween and your really hoping that you'll get one type of candy the motorcade you think that its really good.
( taste wise ) you know that most people don't give out that candy much and more. So in that would make the probability very low of getting what you want.

The weather is another one that can be unpredictable but is sale to be some what predicted

Coco

Probability is an important concept and is used in throughout the world.

1. Casinos
Casinos are simple. You win or you lose. No matter what happens, it's a win win situation for the casino. You're spending your money either way. You're spending your own money for a CHANCE to win something. From slot machines to hundred dollar bets, it's still only a change you're going to win no matter how much to spend/bet.

2.Weather
Weather forecasts are so important in our lives but sometimes we don't really notice how important it is. It can change our mood, the type of clothing we wear, it can even change what we eat. Probability in weather is crucial since there is no actual way of predicting the weather exactly. There's always a chance for it to be sunny when it said that there was a 25% chance of rain. Again the word, CHANCE.

3. Food
In a grocery store, the fresh section is always a game of probability of the ripeness of the fruit or vegetable. Just by looks, you surely won't be able to identify EXACTLY if the fruit is ripe. Take watermelon as an example. I personally love the more crunchy type, not so much the mushy, softer ones. Even though there are techniques to help find out which ones are which (aka slapping the watermelon and listening for the sound). It does help sometimes. Theres still always that chance, even if it's a slim chance that it would not turn out to be exactly what you wanted it to be

Probability is an important concept and is used throughout the world.

Probability is basically the chance of something occurring. For example, when you are playing a board game and you need to roll a number 2 on a six sided dice, the probability is 1/6, not very high. Where as if you needed to roll an even number, then the probability or chance of that happening, would be 3/6 or a 50% chance. Another example of probability in the world, is with the weather. You may turn on the news, and the weather man says "today their is a 70% chance that it will rain from the hours of 2pm-4pm." That means that there is a high chance that it will rain, but with weather you never know for sure. Either way, you will want to keep a rain jacket handy just in case :)
