welcome to grade 6/7!

It was so great to meet the new div 2. class of 2021. We only had a chance to see each other in small groups this week, but we will al be together on Monday and will continue learning the protocols and practices that will help keep us safe! We will also be starting the grade 7 program! I am so excited to get the learning started! Below you will see some reminders as well as a Post A Response Activity. Remember to only post under your first name. You will be learning lots about using the class website and digital citizenship and netiquette (how to behave respectfully and responsibly on line) in the coming weeks.

Please Review the links below with your parents:

REMINDERS & HOMEWORK:

1.) DAILY HEALTH ASSESSMENT FORM: Signed by your parents and returned to me Monday

2.) I AM BACK AT SCHOOL SHEET: Complete this and bring it to school on Monday

3.) HOME READING: Read for 30 minutes each day, fill in the pages read and the time read on the calendar and have the date signed by a parent. Bring the calendar to school on Monday so I can check it

4.) POST A RESPONSE:

Your first homework assignment is to write a welcome back message (paragraph format) to your classmates and your teachers!
You can include things such as examples, likes, favourite subject, least favourite subject, hobbies, etc.
Include an engaging intro (hook), body, and conclusion in your paragraph.
LEARNING INTENTION: I can introduce myself to my classmates and my teachers.
STEP 1: Read instructions carefully

STEP 3: Fill in the 'form'. Click here to see what it looks like.

Hello! I am happy to be a part of Div. 2. I am wishing everyone to have a amazing school year. I look forward to seeing everyone on Monday. I have been learning at Laurier for two years now. I like to play Baseball and read books. Although we are in a very tough time, I wish that everyone will have a awesome and safe year as Div. 2.

Hello everyone, and welcome back to Laurier. To those that are new here, welcome to Laurier! I greatly missed everyone over the course of the extended Summer Break. My favourite subjects are Math and Writing, and my hobbies include reading and drawing. Even though in a world pandemic, I hope that this school year will nonetheless be a fantastic one, and I am extremely excited to see you all on Monday!

Hi everyone, my name`s Kaitlyn and I'm new to Laurier Elementary. I'm in grade seven and looking forward to spending time with you!
I spend a lot of my time reading and writing my book, and I love drawing. Baking is one of the things I learned during this pandemic and I really enjoy it. My favorite thing to do is travel with my family, which I can't really do right now, and I like collecting keychains from the places I've been to.
My birthday is on February 29th, a leap year, which means it only happens every 4 years.
I hope we have a happy and joyful year together and do lots of spelling tests. 😅

My name is Rhea and I am currently in grade 6. For those who are new to this school, welcome to Sir Wilfrid Laurier! During this world pandemic, I am very glad that the Ministry of Health and Education is giving us this opportunity to go back to school and have a chance to socialize together. I enjoy reading science fiction books that are related to mythology and legends, as well as playing games that require using your brain and knowledge, for example, the card game Make 24, and Chinese Chess. One thing that may make some people puzzled is that I dislike idleness; I am always trying to find something to do that may interest me, so I am not a person that likes to just hang out and relax all the time. Therefore, I like to participate in many studies and activities, like taking math classes and doing research projects. My favourite subjects at school are math and music, while my least favourite subject at school is ELA (English language arts).

I am very glad to be in this class. Look forward in seeing all of you!

There is one more thing I really want to share with you all. During this COVID-19 pandemic, I organized a mini club where club members play some games and have fun. One special thing about this club is that we have a little library where people exchange books that they have at home.

Hi Div.2! I am super excited to spend my time with you as this is my last year in Laurier! I really enjoy doing math, and I don't like social studies. I really like playing basketball too! It has been a really big disaster in this world pandemic and everyone has been having a hard time getting used to the new way of learning, but fortunately, the school board has let us go back to school this month and socialize with our friends and teachers again! Looking forward to see you all on Monday!

@gabriel- Thanks for posting and sharing some things about yourself. What do you like about math and why do you dislike social studies? Basketball is my favourite sport as well. I love the feeling spinning and weaving around other players and especially when I swish a 3 pointer!

@Mr.Fisher- I really like math because it's my strong part about me, like it is really easy for me to understand the concepts and formulas. I dislike socials because I don't like to research. I'm really bad at finding information online when I can't find direct answers. So basically, I have no patients on researching. And I also really like the feeling when I swish any shot, I like the satisfying sound when the ball goes through the hoop.

I'm Amrita and I'm going into grade 7. I am super excited about going back to school! Even though we're in this pandemic there is still a lot we do by social distancing. This year could turn out to be an amazing year if, we all do part and follow all the health and safety rules. I enjoy doing math and language arts. I also like playing badminton and volleyball. My hobbies are baking, arts and crafts and studying. I hope this year turns out amazing!

Hi everyone, my name is Danise. Welcome our new students to Laurier and I hope you will have a woderful school year. I also hope everyone is having a good time during Summer. I am so excited going back to school and i miss you all. My favourite subject are Gym, Science and LA and my least favorite subject are Social Studies and Math. One of favourite thing beside school is sports. I love fencing and I fence 4 days a week. I cannot wait to share my medals and fun facts about fencing.I also like to play tennis. I always play tennis with my friends and families and I am practicing to get better. My hobbies are singing and biking. I am also starting to cultivate my reading habit everyday.I am so excited to see all of you and I hope all of us will have a wonderful school year.

Hello my name is Aaron and I'm in division 2 this year! I am looking forward to next Monday, because this is the first full year in Laurier School!
I love gym time, because I love running around and playing sports; I also like math, because I enjoy solving math problems. I don't really like music , because I am not really good at playing instruments and singing.
Do you like to eat pizza? I do. It is so good I can't even stop eating it. I also like to eat jelly , gummy bears & Chips, they are the best.
I am excited for grade 6 and I hope I have a good time.

Hiya there the person reading this! So, welcome back to Laurier! If your new then hi! Welcome! I’m Cindy and I’ve been going to Laurier for 7 years! Well 6 years if not counting kindergarten. My hobbies are drawing and sewing, I also used to bake but I don’t really know it it’s a hobby anymore. And for school things, I enjoy school most of the time. And I like math, English, and science. I enjoy math because I can relax a bit since I don’t have to go up and talk to a lot of people. I like English because I can read, write, and more. I like science because of the experiments. I dislike exercise and socializing with many people, I get tired out pretty fast so that’s why I dislike exercise and I dislike socializing with too many people since I feel quite shy and awkward normally. But I hope to be able to be friends with everyone and have fun!

Hello, I'm Colleen. I have been in Laurier for 5 years and i'm hoping to stay until high school. I have a brother named Maxwell who is going to Churchill and was in this class last year. I like video games and art. I like art because drawing is very nice and good. And I like video games because I can play with new people and have fun. Hello, I'm Ryan. I've been at laurier since kindergarten. I am doing the transition program so I most likely wont be seeing you for the first part of the term. I like mechanical engineering and drawing. I have some knowledge of vehicles and aerodynamics. I look forward to seeing you all soon.
