Go Eagles!
Zing! Zam! Zip! The day sure went by quickly. Just like a flash of lightning.

In the morning we had a volleyball lesson from Miss Liz. After a warm up, students practised bumping setting and serving before playing a fun game involving all 3 skills. After getting our blood flowing students learned two new ways to write an engaging introduction before they got to work on their writing. After recess we continued on with our fractions and decimals lesson. Students learned the difference between equivalent decimals. They are the same amount but just different sized pieces! We finished off the day with a reading strategy assessment. What a full day of learning!

1-Standard/proper 8/9 is a proper fraction

2-Improper fractions an improper fraction is when the numerator is larger than the denominator= 9/3

3-Mixed number fractions mixed number fractions are combining three parts, a whole number, denominator and numerator= 1 2/3

Equivalent fractions are fractions that are equal to each other = 1/2=2/4

Equivalent decimals are decimal fractions that are equal to each other = 0.3 = 0.30

Standard fraction are fractions like 5/7 or 1/2

A improper fraction is when the denominator is bigger like 7/5

Mixed number fraction are the denominator and the numerator as well as one whole like
2 and 5/7

Fraction decimals are fraction that have the denominator of 10,100,1000

Jan

1.Standard/proper fractions: (1/2) Their numerator values are less than the denominators.

2.Improper fractions: (4/2) their numerator values are more than the denominators.

3.Mixed number fractions: (5 and 3/6) numbers that consist of a whole number and a proper fraction.

4.Equivalent fractions: (6/2 = 1/3) they are fractions that have different numbers but still have the same values.

5.Decimals fractions: (5=5/10) they are fractions which have the denominators of 10,100,1000 and more.

6.Equivalent decimals (0.30=0.300000000000) They are decimal numbers that have the same value. However, the one with more zeros would be way more tinier.

Remember: A numerator is how many parts are being referred and a denominator is how many equal pieces make a whole.

Sam

Standard/proper fractions: normal numerator bigger than denominator 6/7
Improper fractions: not normal numerator is equal or smaller than the denominator. 12/5
Mixed number fractions: improper fractions simplified 2 3/4
Equivalent fractions: fractions that are equal 4/4=2/2
Decimals fractions: fractions expressed as decimals 0.5
Equivalent decimals: decimals that are equal 0.5 = 0.5

Standard/proper fractions are when a fraction has a smaller numerator than the denominator. An example would be two thirds, the two is the numerator and smaller than the denominator, three.

Improper fractions are fractions that have a bigger numerator than the denominator. An example would be three halves, the three is bigger than the denominator which is what an improper fraction is.

Mixed numbers are numbers with one whole number but also has more. An example would be 1 and2/3. There is one whole number and 2 of what there was 3. If there are pies split in 3 and one slice is taken, then there are 2 slices left of three pies that were there. But there is another pie split in three untouched. Then there would be one WHOLE pie still there. That would make the whole number in 1 and 2/3. 2/3 is the pie that one piece that was taken.

Equivalent fractions are when two fractions are equal. 1/2 and 2/4 may have different numerators and denominators but they represent the same value.

A decimal fraction is where a fraction has a denominator with multiples of 10. An example would be 3/10, the denominator is a multiple of 10. 3/10 can also be written as 0.3.

Equivalent decimals are decimals that have the same value. An example of an equivalent decimal is 40.5 and 40.5000. 40.5000 may have more zeros but it just says that the whole thing is split in more pieces than 40.5.

Do you know fractions? I will explain it to you so there is different type of fractions rule because fractions are divisions problems there value depends on top and bottom there some basic the first rule that will helps us estimate the value of the fractions and that will about where in the number line if the top number is 0 the value of the fraction is always 0 for example 0 over 2 or 0 over 20 000 it still be 0 and this called zero fractions, you can't make like 5 over 0 because you can't divide 0 into another part

The second rule is if the bottom number bigger than the top number, and the value will be greater than 0 but less than 1
The third rule is if the top and the bottom number is the same then the value of fractions will always be 1 so if you have 1 over 1, or 5 over 5 it will always be 1 and this called the whole fractions

The fourth rule is if the top number is greater than the bottom number than the value fractions will be bigger that 1 this fractions called improper fractions

Leo

Standard/proper fractions are fractions where the numi is lower than the denomi. Some examples are 3/4, 6/10, 1792/13829.
Improper fractions are fractions where the numi is higher than the denomi. Some examples are 312/2 3413/3412, 2/1.
Mixed number fractions are fractions but if the fraction is improper, it gets a number beside it with a value of 1. The amount of ones you get is how many denomis can fit into the numis and the rest is a fraction. Examples are 12/5.two fives can fit into twelve and the remainder is two so it's 2 and 2/5. If a number is proper, you can leave it or write a zero next to it. Example 3/4 zero fours can fit into three and the remainder stays so it's 0 and 3/4.
Equivalent fractions are when the numi and denomi of one fraction is equivalent to another fraction, but the numi and denomi is different. Examples are 1/2 and 2/4, 4/5 and 8/10.
Decimals fractions are fractions where the denomi is powers of ten. Examples 3/10, 57/100, 2314431/100000000000
Equivalent decimals are decimals with the same value but more zeros. Examples are 13.572 and 13.572000000.

Standard/proper fractions - as they are named, normal ones e.g- 40/60 this fraction just shows you how much of one thing has been taken away, added, etc.
Improper fractions quite the opposite of standard/proper fractions, e.g 60/40 the numerator is always bigger then the denominator in this situation
Mixed number fractions- this is the second(ish) version of improper fractions, e.g - 1and 3/4 you usually use this fraction when you turn a improper fraction into this.
Equivalent fractions - they are basically the same fractions but just said differently e.g 1/2 = 2/4 since they are same in value but (again) said differently.
Decimals fractions- The decimal fractions are basically when their denominator is a power of ten, e.g 70/100
Equivalent decimals. They are basically where you have decimals that are the same value (like Equivalent fractions but not) e.g- 0.49=0.490

Standard fraction is when the numerator has a less value than the denominator. (e.g., 2/4 or 3/5 both of these examples show that denominator is bigger than the numerator.
Improper Fractions is a fraction in which the numerator is bigger than the denominator e.g., 7/ 3 and 4/2.
Mixed Numbers consist of three parts the numerator, the denominator and a whole number e.g., 3 and 1/4 also 5 and 3/2. The numi and the denomi are the main two parts of the mixed number.
Decimal Fractions is when the denominator is a power of ten e.g., 80/100 or 60/100.
Equivalent decimals are when the numbers have the same value but just add more zeros e.g., 0.90= 0.900 and 0.50=0.500 it is the same value just more zeros.
Equivalent Fractions are different fractions with the same value e.g., 2/4 and 3/6 or 2/9 and 4/18.
