Coordinate grid battle ship!
We are back at it for your last session of elementary school! I was great to see everyone today and fun to hear your interesting spring break experiences. We heard many stories form getting lost in Costco to sleeping for 15 hrs straight. As well as catching up, we got started a new class read-a-loud called "Touching Spirit Bear" by Ben Mikaelsen, started a mini math unit on graphing linear relations and had our final dramatic reading presentations. The presentations were fantastic and everyone has improved a lot. I'm looking forward to learning a lot together in the coming months!
1) Homework & Reminders:
  • Home reading (calendar will be ready tomorrow)
  • View the book trailers below  to help decide what book you want to read for our upcoming novel study book clubs
2) Post A Response:
  • Describe the following graph based on the list of ordered pairs below. The graph is on  a coordinate grid that runs form 10 to -10 on both the x and y axis. Try and see the ordered pairs in your minds eye!
  • Use the following language to help you: It starts in the middle of quadrant...., then it moves sdown/up/left/right to the middle of quadrant.....then it crosses diagonally..........it stops at the bottom of quadrant.....etc.
  • (8,8), (8,3), (8,0), (8,-5), (0,0), (-3,2), (-8,5) (-8,0), (-8,-6) (7,8)

First, it starts near the middle of quadrant one, then goes straight down to the upper half of quadrant 4. Then it travels diagonally to what I think is called the origin, or the point where the y and x axis intersect. It then continues to travel diagonally into the lower half of the second quadrant. From there, it moves downward to around the middle of quadrant three. Finally, it goes diagonally towards quadrant one, where it stops right by where the line started.

It starts from the top right of the 1st quadrant and then goes left to the top of the y axis. It goes across the y axis and into the 2nd quadrant to the top middle section of the 2nd quadrant. It then crosses to the middle of all quadrants to the top left section of the 4th quadrant. It keeps going until the bottom middle section of the quadrant. It turns left and crosses to the bottom middel section of the 3rd quadrant. Finally, it travels diagonally to about where it started.

Miikka

It starts a little bit farther above the middle of the first quadrant, then moves diagonally down to the left of the first quadrant. Then it crosses over to the middle of the fourth quadrant, then back up to the middle of the quadrants. It then moves to the bottom of the second quadrant, down to the middle of the third quadrant, and back up to the middle of the border between the second and third quadrants. Finally, it moves to the middle of the fourth quadrant and up to the top of the first quadrant.

Mr.Fisher you are missing book on the list.

You are missing "because of Mr.Taruet" or what ever his name was

1) Starts in the 1st quadrant
2) Jumps all the way down the line and on the border of quadrant 1
3) Travels into the 4th quadrant
4) Travels all the way up and into the middle and keeps on going to the 2nd quadrant, claiming a corner
5) Jumps diagonally up and into the middle of the 2nd quadrant
6) Slides all the way down to the edge of the 2nd quadrant
7) Travels all the way down the line into the 3rd quadrant
8) Leaping diagonally up all the way to the 1st quadrant finally resting

Roshin

It starts at the top right of the first quadrant and then goes left near the top of the y axis. It goes across that axis into the second quadrant near about the topish middle section. Then crosses to the bottom of the second quadrant into the middle of then third and back up to the boarder of the second and third quadrant and then moves to the fourth quadrant on the top. And then it goes back to where it started. The first quadrant.

If I’m wrong correct me.

Try reading some others and se what they have. Your looks a bit off.

Veer won since I had horrible aim.

It starts in the upper right portion of Quadrant 1, then to the bottom right of Quadrant 1, then drops onto the right x-axis, then drops even further onto the right part of Quadrant 4. After, it goes back up right into the center of the grid, where the axis lines intersect, and then it's off to the bottom right of Quadrant 2, then, it moves to the left of Quadrant 2, and then it's to the left x-axis, and after, it moves to the bottom left of Quadrant 3, and then it goes back to about where it started.

The first coordinate starts in the upper right corner of quadrant 1, then goes straight down near the bottom right corner. It then drops down onto the x-axis. Then it goes even farther down to the right of quadrant 4. Then it goes diagonally to the right to the very center of the grind where the axis intersects. It then moves a little to the left and up to reach the bottom right corner of quadrant 2. It then goes in the same direction a little bit more to the left of quadrant 2. Then it goes straight down onto the x-axis. It then pops back up to the left of quadrant 2. Finally, it crosses into quadrant 1 into the top right corner.

Aaron

The line starts on a point near the middle of the first quadrant. Then the line grows down right onto the X axis. After that the line drops further down, into a little on the top right side of quadrant four. Then the line travels diagonally to where the X axis and Y axis intersect, other wise known as the origin. After, it heads towards the bottom right in the second quadrant. Travels, after into the middle of quadrant two. The line then goes to the bottom edge of quadrant two or the left side of the X axis. Finally it's finished with the second quadrant and moves towards left side of the bottom of quadrant three. Soon after that it ends in the middle of quadrant one.

Lawrence

The first coordinate starts on the top right corner of quadrant 1 soon moving to do the bottom border of quadrant 1. After, it goes down to the fourth quadrant making its way back to the middle. Then after, making one at the top corner of the quadrant 2, it soon goes back to the middle then the bottom corner. After making its way into the corner of the 3rd quadrant and going back the the first!

Aden
4/3/2018 08:24:13 pm

The line starts in the 1st quadrant than goes down to the line border of quadrant 1 than to the fourth quadrant, goes to the middle quardrant than goes diagonally up back to the middle, then slides down to the edge of 2nd quardrant, next down to the 3rd quardrant finally back to the 1st quardrant

The pictures are so funny haha.
It first starts in the middle of quadrant 1, then moves down. Then it moves even farther down. Keep going down into quadrant 4. Then the very center. It moves up left? And it moves even more up? Then it goes down. It moves down right into quadrant 3. Then horizontally up back into quadrant 1. :D

it goes down to quadrant 4 and then it crosses the origin to the 2nd quadrant. then it moves down to the 3rd quadrant which is where it moves diagonally back to almost where it originally started

matt

it starts in the first quadrant, then it goes down 5 , then it stops at the bottom of the quadrant, then it goes down 5 to quadrant 4, then it goes diagonal to the center of all 4 quadrant, then it moves to the bottom right corner of quadrant 2, then it goes to about the center of quadrant 2, then it goes down 5, then it goes down 6 into quadrant 3, then it goes back to quadrant 1 near the top right.

Andrew

The first one starts near the top right of the first quadrant . It then goes down near the bottom of quadrant one. Then it goes down and landing on the x axis. It will then go down near the middle just a bit off to the right. Then it travels through the origin and lands near the bottom right corner of quadrant 2. It when travels near the left side of quadrant 2. Goes down through the x axis again landing on the line. Then it travels back to where it about started.

Coco

It first starts in the middle of quadrant 1, then it goes down, and even lower until it's it lands onto the x axis. Then it moves into quadrant 4. It will then move nearby the middle. Then it will move left, and even more left into quadrant 3. It then moves horizontally into back into quadrant 1.

Tasia

Start just above the middle in quadrant 1, then travel further down to just below the half way point in quadrant 1. Then down even further to the origin, where the x- axis and the y-axis meet. Then travel to the middle of quadrant 4. After that, go to the centre of the origin. Go horizontally upward to the bottom half of quadrant 2. Then travel up to the left, and back down again. Go down to about the middle of quadrant 3 and finally up horizontally to the top half of quadrant one.
